Irish Haze

Feeling lucky today. The image below looked only "average" in the preview window but when it was rendered, it turned into something almost magical.

More good news, I am already booked for four out of five days next week which is wonderful.

Pastel Party

Usually I prefer strong colours but in this case, will make an exception.

Life has been rather busy of late, hence the less frequent updates of this blog. Busy is good though, it beats boredom every time.

Gold Flower

Heard of "Gold Finger" ?? Below is my version of "Gold Flower".

Eek! Flickr lost the photo and I can't find it. You'll just have to use your imagination (updated 23/09/2012)

Ran out of time to blog last night, so am doing the next best thing and getting it done before school.

Simple Symmetry

There is nothing quite like a dose of simple symmetry after a long, busy day.

Orange Daze

The poppies in the garden are starting to bloom. Below's proof.

Its back to work (ie: school) tomorrow. Am both happy and sad about this.

Mourning Star

The fractal below is named for the fact that today is the 17th Tammuz 5765, it is a day of mourning in the Jewish Calendar.

On this day we remember the breach of Jerusalem's walls by the Romans prior to the destruction of the second temple. It is also the anniversary of Moses shattering the first set of 10 Commandments.

A Star is Born

The image below was created some time last week.

One day of "holiday" left. Of course having reverted back to Day Relief (substitute teaching), it is hard to say when I will be working. Next week is looking pretty good so far. Have already been booked for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Fiery Friday

Not much to say today. Enjoy the "fiery fractal" below.

Woven Wonder

The fact that my computer can generate a square without using any straight lines is amazing to me.

Eeek! Flickr lost this one too. It was probably a curve stitched design of some description.

This fractal is quite old but have been too busy doing other stuff to make new ones. Good thing I have a "stock" of ready made fractals for times like this.

Paua Ripple

Created this one yesterday. The colours remind me of Paua shell.

"Paua" is another name for Abalone. It is highly prized in New Zealand both for its shell and flesh. Paua poaching is a problem here and those who are caught face heavy fines / jail time.

Organic Spiral

Spent a lot of time trying to get a fractal that looked more organic. I have one below although it is not exactly what I was going for. If you look closely, you might be able to see the spiral in there.

At least it is different from my previous offerings.

Octagonal Snowflake

Had a wonderful weekend which involved entertaining guests both yesterday and today. The last two days have been a mixture of good conversation, great food and lovely weather. Can't believe that my vacation is half gone.

Flickr lost this one too. This is probably for the best as chances are, it was quite "forced" (update 23/09/2012)

Am over my initial vacation boredom and frustration and am having a great time. The fractal above was created some time ago. Have been so busy having fun that have not had much time to make more fractals.

Stylish String

The offering below is similar to "Silver Lattice". At least it makes a change from random spirals / "Spirograph" images.

Today has been good. I made chocolate cake, read a book and generally chilled out. School holidays are a wonderful thing.

Not so Basic Barnacle

My car went in for a service, cambelt replacement and WOF (Warrant of Fitness). $426 later and it is ready to roll. Ouch! With the price of petrol at record levels and the amount I just had to fork out to keep going, it is almost not worth it.

Its holiday time and have already completed the 1000 piece puzzle I bought yesterday. Am bored, frustrated and wondering what to do next.

The fractal above features one of my "homemade" gradients. Discovered that saving them in .gif format instead of .jpg format seems to keep the bright colours. If you squint and use your imagination, it looks almost three dimensional.

Fantastic Feather

Had dance class with a difference tonight. Last Saturday was the group's second birthday so to celebrate, one of our teachers brought cake. We got to dance for free, finished early and then went out for coffee (with cake). A great time was had by all.

The 'Fantastic Feather' above was created in the not so distant past. It makes a nice change from the "Spirograph" type images that I have been "stuck" on recently.

Floral Dream

Below is another of my "spirograph" type fractals.

Went to Adult Ed last night. It was OK. Learnt a few interesting things but nothing earth shattering. Was good to get back into it though.

Super Spiral

Had a great day today. Got to play with "Movie Maker" as part of my professional development for school. It was fun. Would have been even more fun if said software did not crash so frequently.

Not much else of interest to report.

Digital Dawn

Had a very quiet "do nothing" day today. Sun was shining and it was wonderful!

Eek! Flickr lost this one too. (updated 23/09/2012)

The fractal above is one of my recent creations. Its alternate title is 'Spiral Sunrise'.

Ice Blue

Today's fractal is near the bottom of this post, so those of you who just visit for the art work, please scroll down.

School finished today. It was theoretically my "last day" in this particular role as I did not want to renew my contract. Am oddly happy about this, even though it means I am back to being a simple day reliever (ie: substitute teacher).

My happiness could be due to the decreased responsibility and higher pay as a reliever. The pay is not actually higher, it just seems higher as holiday pay is included. One good thing is that as a reliever I do charge for travel and with fuel prices the highest I have ever seen them this can only be a good thing.

For those of you wondering why more people don't choose relieving, there is rather a lot of uncertainty in the life style. One never knows when one is going to be called in to work and whilst you one refuse work, if one does not work, one doesn't get paid.

We did see the sun today but it is still rather grey outside. All once again seems manageable though. Especially as I can sleep late tomorrow. Life just got a whole lot better for me. Must have something to do with being officially on vacation.

Deep Blue

Below another spiral, created with Apophysis.

Lots of stuff going on at the moment but none of it is really blog-worthy. Am looking forward to the holidays next week.

Super String

Below is another of my fractal efforts. Someone on flickr commented that it looks "spirograph-esque". I agree. Small wonder, considering that as a kid, Spirograph was one of my favourite toys.

Its still grey and raining over here. Have not seen the sun for two days now and am starting to forget what it looks like. Ended up staying home last night instead of going to Adult Ed. The weather was too miserable and I had an early morning this morning and wanted to get my sleep.

Midnight Sunshine

Created this fractal yesterday.

Work is making me crazy. The weather is not helping.

I am currently debating whether I should go to the Rabbi's Adult Ed class or not. The weather is still cold and horrible but I feel that I should go and at least give him a chance.

Happy 4th July

I have the day off today. This is not because I am American, but because my contract at work is only 9 days out of 10 and today is that magical tenth day.

In honour of the American holiday, have posted one of my oldest ever fractals.

This one is titled 'USA Connect'

Sunday Spiral

Created this one a few days ago but have been so busy dancing that have only had time to post it now.

Am way more cheerful than I was this time last week, partly because the weather has improved and partly because I don't have to work tomorrow.

This was originally titled 'Fire Spiral'.
