Moon Fern

Lets just say that as a friend noted yesterday I am "bored out of my tree". Which means more mucking around on the computer.

The above was created with Tierazon which makes a nice change from random attractors. Going back to Tierazon was like visiting an old friend. Very satisfying.

Am looking forward to going back to work (ie: school) tomorrow. Have two private students in the afternoon followed by Israeli dance class. Suffice it to say dance class is the hightlight of my week.

Creative Indecision

It is one of "those days" again. Too much time, not enough to do. With a five day break, the situation was inevitable. Created the stuff below.

Couldn't decide on the colour scheme. No great surprise there.

Pink Blue Version Solid Version
Solid Version (again) Silver GoldVersion

So far the day has gone something like this

  • Mow lawn
  • Do laundry
  • Muck around on computer

My entry into the Chaoscope Monthly competition now has one vote. Am not sure if "pity" votes count but one is certainly better than zero.

Ripple Sphere

It is Saturday night here and time to update this baby!

Have downloaded this neat little app which lets me create colour maps for Fractint which can then be used with Chaoscope as well. Below is a random attractor which uses a colour map that I created.

Ripple Sphere

On a somewhat sadder note, my Infinite Pretzel entry in the Chaoscope Monthly competition has got a grand total of ZERO votes. This has to be an all time low for me :(

Digital Hamentashen

Purim is finally here and to celebrate the occasion have decided to post a Hamentashen shaped random attractor.

Digital Hamentashen

If you don't know what Purim is, you can read more about it on this Purim Page. If you want to make some real Hamentashen, you can try one of these Hamentashen Recipes.

Fractal Fan

Hopefully my readers will pardon the rather obvious pun but I could not resist. For those who tell me that I am too subtle, let me explain:

  • I am a Fractal Fan (as in I like fractals)
  • Below is an image of a fan, which is actually a random attractor

Hence the rather bad play on words.

Fractal Fan

The fan was appropriate as despite summer drawing to a close, the weather is still glorious and hot. Sadly no rain for over a week which is not good for the garden. It is amazing how one's perspective regarding rain changes when the garden suddenly becomes one's responsibility.

Rainbow Mist

Someone politely reminded me that I have not updated for a while. They were starting to worry about me. Which was really sweet. So below is *yet another* random attractor for your viewing pleasure.

Rainbow Mist

Best thing I can say about this week is that it is almost over. I feel that I am surrounded by idiots most of the time and my patience is wearing thin.

Realising that the "new" office is infested with fleas did not help. They have known about it for weeks and have done nothing! I got bitten by the fleas two weeks ago when I was subbing and had originally blamed the bites on one of my private student's dogs. Now I know better. Am decidedly unimpressed.

Caught in the Act

Came home from work today and caught two butterflies in the act.

Rushed like a lunatic into the house to grab my camera and then rushed out again to take the all important photos. Click on the image below to enlarge it.

Caught in the Act

Turns out that I did not need to rush. When I went outside again half an hour later they were still at it. I guess that was more than you needed to know about the mating habits of the Monarch butterfly but what the heck, I am a biology teacher at heart. I wonder which one is the female...

Blue Eye

Its Saturday night and instead of going on a hot date, am chained to my computer. The plan is to update the blog, and then update one of the websites that I look after. Then it will be bed time. Fun, fun, fun.

Below is one of the earlier images that I created with Chaoscope. It is not as good as some of the later stuff, but it is still kinda interesting.

Weird Tomato

I have a rare day off and thought I would share a photo of one of our home grown tomatos. The tomato in the picture is a cherry tomato and we will be keeping it and growing the seeds next season to see what happens.

Weird Tomato

I have never seen a tomato that looks quite so strange. I assume that it tastes normal but as we are saving the seeds, I can't be 100% certain.

If you are going to comment, please spare me the R-rated tomato jokes as I have probably heard them all by now.

Sliced Squashed Sphere

What a week! Can't believe how fast it has flown.

Big news is that I walked into the office yesterday to do my day reliever thing and got offered a job. It is not yet official but is looking very promising. I am just waiting for the paperwork to come through.

In the meantime, thought my loyal fans might appreciate the image below.

Light Fantastic

Apologies to Terry Pratchett for the title. I could not resist. If you have not read the book, you should.

The Chaoscope monthly contest has ended and despite some votes from my loyal friends, my entry did not make the grade. The winning entry looked remarkably similar to the image below which is the same attractor as "Infinite Pretzel" but rendered in a different mode.

It is amazing what a small change can do to an image.
