Today's Gratitude Item: That my worst year 10 student will not be in my class on Friday. His behaviour was so bad that I have organised for him to be withdrawn from class and instead of doing a fun practical activity, he will have alternate paperwork to do. With him out of my hair, hopefully the class will go well. I don't have any year 10 classes tomorrow which is great! For some reason, the kids at that age can be rather difficult. For those of you not in NZ, year 10 translates to 9th grade.

Okay, as a former teacher, you've aroused my curiousity. Is there anything you can share about why you consider this student to be such a handful, without breaching any confidence? I'm always interested in trying to think about how I might handle situations like that.

Another curiosity question....you mentioned earlier the students wear uniforms. Do you teach at a private school, or is that how students in the public or open system dress too?

Those bad kids always make it difficult for everyone else to learn. Glad you gave him the boot.
