Ice Flower

This one started life off as a marigold. It then got "upgraded".

Ice Flower

Today's Gratitude Item: Really good macadamia nut biscuits that were part of an unexpected morning tea today. It was one of those times when I turn up at a school and get given free food. I love my life :)

Concrete Illusion

This one took over an hour to render. It was probably worth it.

Concrete Illusion

Enjoy the original version at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Ankle guards. As in, I did something to my left foot at dance last night and it was slightly dodgy this morning. It was fine through the day but I did not want to risk doing my usual stint on the treadmill without some extra support. My trusty ankle guard did the trick. Session on the treadmill went well and my foot does not hurt at all :)

Enlightened Chaos

The name was inspired by one of the name generators found on Seventh Sanctum.

Enlightened Chaos

Detail is best appreciated in the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: The fact that winter is fast approaching and most of the mosquitoes in the near vicinity are either dead or dying.

Daisies Revisited

Another photograph featuring flowers and more amazing circles.

Daisies Revisited

The full sized version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: I am fully booked for the next eight working days and my reapplication for my teacher's certificate is complete and on its way to Wellington. In this country, teachers have to renew their teaching certificates every three years which equals a $120.00 fee and a fair bit of paperwork. It is worse if you are a substitute teacher but it is somthing that has to be done.

No Circlulars

Here in NZ, "Circulars" refers to "junk mail" such as shopping catalogues and real estate brochures. In order to save paper / cut down on junk mail, it is common to see a "no circulars" sign on people's letter boxes.

I liked the visual pun so decided to make this into a stamp. Local postage in NZ is 45c and the logo at the bottom of the stamp was taken from the New Zealand Post homepage.

No Circulars

I used the Stamp Frame on Flickr Toys for this image which means that the above image is not available in large size.

Today's Gratitude Item: Have managed to do most of the stuff on my list without it getting too late.

Integrity

This one was a long time in the making. Am pleased with how it turned out.

Integrity

The detail is best enjoyed in the original version.

Today's Gratitude Item: The Silver Ferns won the Gold medal at the Commonwealth games in Melbourne! Obviously this is a brilliant result and I am thrilled for the team. I don't usually follow / care about sport but in this case I will make an exception.

Blue Dice

Part of my "luck" series. Also a WET Challenge entry.

Blue Dice

Enjoy the detail by looking at the original image.

Today's Gratitude Item: Daylight saving ended last week which means that shabbat went out one hour earlier this week which means I got to go on my computer sooner rather than later. I love Autumn / Winter for that reason.

Blue Vortex

In my world, blue goes with everything :)

Blue Vortex

The full detail can be enjoyed by taking a look at the original image.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting out of school alive! Seriously, navigating through the after school mayhem where I was today was a massive challenge. Think narrow roads, too many cars, students and buses and you have a small inkling of the insanity that I had to face. It is amazing that there are not more accidents around that place. Suffice it to say, had some truley horrible classes today and it was a relief when my "day from hell" finally ended.

Blue Moon

Once in a blue moon, Apo generates fractals like this. Of course much "tweaking" was needed to get this image.

Perhaps I should have called it "Too Blue".

Blue Moon

Full detail can be enjoyed by viewing the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: My student got an "excellence" on her geometry assessment after our tutoring session on the subject. She emailed me the good news. "Excellence" is the highest grade that you can get and even though it was only a practice test, we are both really pleased about it.

Power

For those of you who are not "into" physics, the unit for power is "Watt". The formula for power is Work (or energy expended) divided by time.

The colours in the poster reminded me of a Paua shell (which is pronounced "power"), hence the title and tagline. The inside of the Paua shell is very pretty, the outside of the shell is "gungy" to say the least.

Power

The full detail of this poster is best enjoyed when it is viewd in large size.

Today's Gratitude Item: Eudora has the ability to create multiple personalities which means that I can send emails from my Eudora account as the Admin of the board that I administer rather than using my personal address. Very handy. The idea of having "mulitple personalities" available in Eudora made me smile.

Irish Storm

This one is left over from Saint Patrick's Day. Luck *still* has nothing to do with it.

Irish Storm

Detail best viewed in large size.

Today's Gratitude Item: Had another perfect day in which I managed to get most of the stuff on my list done. It helped that I did not have to go to work which left me with time to do a bunch of bits and pieces that needed doing.

Persistance

Took a fair bit of "persistance" to creat this one. It reminds me of the wake left by oars from a row boat. Anyone who has ever rowed any great distance will know why persistance is such a wonderful thing. For the record, I am not a rower, but I admire those who are.

Persistance

The orignal image is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A good day at work and two great tutoring sessions followed by an hour on the treadmill watching some television. All in all a perfect day.

Checkers Anyone?

Here is another "competition" piece featuring some amazing circles. Doing something for a competition is great as it forces one to try new things and new skills in that never ending quest for victory.

This piece did not win the competition but it did get two votes and a lot of encouraging feedback.

Checkers Anyone?

The detail is best appreciated in large size.

Today's Gratitude Item: Yesterday I went to the library and managed to take out both Crystal City by Orson Scott Card and The Eternity Artifact by LE Modesitt. These are two of my favourite authors and it was a real treat to "find" these books on the shelves.

Patience

Blogger was playing up on Friday and would not publish, so if you "missed" yesterdays post, please go back and take a look at it :)

Today's offering really needs no explanation.

Patience

Today's Gratitude Item: An extra hours sleep. Ending summer / daylight saving has that as an advantage.

Dandylion Revisited

My Official Saint Patricks Day post is at the preceding link.

Below is the second piece in my Flower Photo / Amazing Circle series.

For some reason, flowers make really great amazing circles. This probably has something to do with their symmetry.

Dandylion Revisited

Here is the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having a cool green scarf in my cupboard and remembering to wear it to school today.

Saint Patrick's Day

Dedicated to Ben, the nicest Irish guy ever :)

Saint Patrick's Day

A slightly larger version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to get an early night. It has been another busy (but wonderful) week. Am looking forward to an early night tonight and am plannning on hitting the sack very soon.

Flower Pane

This is a new way of looking at an old photo. The photo has always been one of my favourites and now it looks even better than ever.

Flower Pane

A larger version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Helpful students. Had a wonderful class today and things went really well. Could not have done it without the help of the students in the class who were happy to organise sports gear and basically tell me where things were and how things were done in their school / class. This is the way things should be!

Stretch

If you are looking for my Purim post, it is at the preceding link.

The graphic below was inspired by dance class where we stretch both body and mind.

Stretch

And for those who want it, there is a "Stretched Version".

Today's Gratitude Item: The fact that my one student did not turn up for her lesson today. Had a "rough"* day at school and was really grateful for the unexpected hour long break afterwards.

*"Rough" is when you end up at a school where the students are disrespectful and listen less than usual, you need to run around to find resources, parking is a major hassle and managing to escape at the end of the day is a minor miracle.

Purim 5766

Purim Sameach everyone :)

Purim 5766

Large version is also available.

Today's Gratitude Item: Realising that there was an apostrophe missing in the above poster and fixing it before posting it here. Also saving the above in its original form so that the mistake was very easy to fix. As always, its the little things that make life so interesting.

Focus

The circles in this one reminded me of targets and thus another motivational poster was born.

Focus

As always, usual, here is a larger version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having enough time to create more art so that if the week ahead gets too busy, will still have something to post here.

Anticipation

This one is dedicated to Decadent Tranquility. I did not fully appreciate the true meaning of Anticipation until I became addicted to your blog.

Anticipation

A Super Large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Simply being alive and being able to enjoy it. Often in life, we do not appreciate what we have until it is gone.

Green Enigma

Am still trying to figure out what this is, hence the title.

Green Enigma

Here is the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: We are the proud new owners of a treadmill. This is great as with winter on its way, I will now be able to go for a walk without getting wet. Said treadmill was on sale and looks really good. Can't wait to try it out.

Fortitude

This is one of those times when the image came before the text.

Fortitude

Large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: The spam filters on the system I use are finally working again which means that the recent flood of spam that has been making me crazy has finally stopped.

Amazing Magazine

The image below was made for the Amazing Circles WET Challenge. It took a ridiculously long time to create. I must be insane.

Amazing Magazine

A bigger version is also available. In fact this magazine comes in large and extra large sizes.

Today's Gratitude Item: Year 13 and Year 9 dance classes who were both really amazing. Both groups were articulate, talented and enthusiastic. A real credit to themselves, their parents and their school.

Insight

What lies beneath this one??

Insight

Full detail best appreciated by viewing the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting to meet a gold medal winner from the 1966 Commonwealth Games. The man in question is Roy Williams and I met him today when he took our students for athletics. He was great with the kids and was a very nice human being. Getting to meet interesting people is one of the perks of being a substitute teacher.

Green Peace

Old name, new interpretation. Perhaps I should have called it "Green Piece".

A post with a name like this has to be linked to the official Green Peace webpage. I am not a "greenie" but do appreciate Green Peace's efforts on behalf of the environment. Was especially impressed with their recent stand against Japanese whaling. It is rare to see people so passionate about a cause that they are willing to take physical action to make their point.

Green Peace

Full detail can be seen in the Large Version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Carrot cake. Specifically, the wonderful *free* carrot cake that we had at morning tea to celebrate someone's 40th birthday. One of the perks of relieving is that every so often you land up in the right place at the right time and get to enjoy free food.

Passion

Combination of POV-Ray with an Amazing Circle. It took a while to get the ripple effect right.

Passion

And here is the very large original version.

Today's Gratitude Item: I have work tomorrow and I did not get rained on when walking this evening. The sky was cloudy and going for a walk was a fairly risky proposition. Am glad I went through with it though.

Serenity

Presenting yet another motivational poster.

Serenity

Here is the large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Mailwasher which is my software of choice to help in the war against Spam.

Friday, March 03, 2006

Amazing If

Dedicated to Rudyard Kipling.

Amazing If

Detail best appreciated in large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: I got to go back to the same school I worked at yesterday and teach Maths (rather than Science). This is a wonderful thing as I would have had to visit the school in question again today as I inadvertantly "kidnapped" the spare key for one of the blocks and needed to return it.

Persevere

The irony is that it took several attempts to upload this graphic!

Persevere

For those who want it, here is the original large version.

Today's Gratitude Item: An easy day. Only had to teach three classes out of five today. The remainder of the time was spent helping out with student photos (a massive undertaking) and covering books in the library. Fun, fun, fun.

Lord of the Rings

Proudly made in New Zealand :)

Lord of the Rings

The detail of the above graphic is best appreciated when you take a look at theLarge Size version.

Today's Gratitude Item: Cooler weather. The worst of the humid weather seems to be over and it is not yet wet and rainy. Autumn is my favourite time of year.
