Today's Gratitude Item: Computer started up first time!!! Was very relieved about this. Yesterday I uninstalled the program that could have been causing my computer to have "issues" on start up. Hopefully it will continue to behave. I really really hate it when my computer does not "play nice".
Believe it or not, this one uses the same parameters as "Green Peas". The detail is best appreciated when viewed in large size.
Today's Gratitude Item: That my computer finally decided to cooperate. For some reason, it does not want to seem to start up and for the last two days has been giving me a black screen followed by the "Windows could not start up normally" message. The most frustrating part of this is that I have no idea what the problem is. The plan is to backup my vital stuff onto CD so that at least my data is safe. A lot of the important stuff is online so backing up is not as big a deal as it could be.

Today's Gratitude Item: A really nice weekend. I can't say anything incredibly amazing happened in the past two days, its just been peaceful and "nice". "Nice" is always good.

Today's Gratitude Item: Morning tea which featured free food courtesy of a lovely student teacher who had her last day where I was relieving. This was extra special as "the call" came through at 6.30am and I did not have time for breakfast.
Liked how it glowed in the center. The rigid structure of these "woven" graphics is something that I find really appealing. I don't know why that is.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the power failure we had today was relatively short. They are doing roadworks / maintenance in our area so I guess someone did somthing to kill the supply for a bit.
The "off white" background makes a pleasant change. It reminds me of the rubbings we used to make as kids.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to sleep in *again*. This is a really handy thing when one is physically exhausted after dance camp. Not sore or stiff, just "body tired" and finding getting out of a nice warm bed even harder than usual.
Turns out that "woven" tiled script is very addictive. Its a good thing that it gives such pleasing results.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my dad managed to get a flight home from Wellington today. He had to go there for the day on business and the weather was so bad that it got featured in the news. Very few flights managed to take off, and he was delayed for hours at the airport but luckily, his was one of the two flights that was not cancelled and he made it home safely.

Today's Gratitude Item: That tomorrow is the start of dance camp! This is an event that I look forward to all year and tomorrow, I fly to Wellington for three days of Israeli dance. This year, the choreographers are Moshe Telem and Ra'anan Mor. It should be great. I'll be back in three days, (ie: late Monday night), so don't worry when this blog remains rather quiet.
I am hopelessly addicted to these tiled designs! The detail on this one is pretty good.

Today's Gratitude Item: That I had only walked a quarter of the way to the library when I realised that my library cards was still at home. Turned round and went back for it. It could have been worse, could have walked all the way to the library and then not been able to take out any books. What one does not do with one's brain, one makes up for with one's feet. That's apparently what my grandfather used to say.

Today's Gratitude Item: A really good dinner. It was suprisingly cold outside today so having a nice hot dinner was very welcome.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having a day working in my "old" job. The teacher I relieved for the past two terms was away today so I "got" his classes. His students did not know that he would be away and that, once again, I would be subbing for him. The looks on their faces when they saw me was classic. They ranged from horrified to pleasantly suprised. Most were visibly relieved when I reassured them that their current teacher would be back soon.
Spirograph anyone? Doing this by hand would have been a lot harder and probably not as much fun.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting Whitethorn by Bryce Courtnay for $20 (at the warehouse) instead of $35 (from Paperplus). This will make a perfect read for when I go to dance camp next weekend.
Made for Simchat Torah. POV-Ray was used to generate the scrolls and then the text was put in using paint shop pro.
If you look at the super huge image, you will notice the text is in Hebrew, this was copied and pasted from an online Hebrew Bible. The only "problem" with it is that in a real torah, the text would not have any vowels. Of course a "real" torah does not have the rewind instruction either.
Today's Gratitude Item: Locating yarn for my current project that was cheap, the right colour and the right thickness. Trust me when I say that this was not as easy to do as it sounds.

Today's Gratitude Item: An "easy" day at school. Nice students, good classes and no stress. I could live like this.
This one was inspired, and is named after one of my students. She drew the design using a compass. I recreated the design using "Context Free" and then used Paint Shop Pro for the rest.

Today's Gratitude Item: Muscle memory. Very useful for when one decides to crochet after a "break" of several years. Turns out its like riding a bike, you never really forget.

Today's Gratitude Item: Laughter. Sometimes it is easy to forget how precious and wonderful laughter is. Yesterday, something happened that was so funny, it reduced me to tears. It was one of those "you had to be there" kind of things and it was wonderful to be able to simply laugh "hard out".

Today's Gratitude Item: That someone finally told me that their comments were bouncing!! Was wondering why it had gotten so quiet over here. Good news is that the problem is fixed.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being warm again. It snowed on the mountains last night which means that although the day outside is beautiful (clear blue skies etc), the wind is FREEZING. I did not realise this until a good way into my walk. Needless to say, it was good to get home and have a nice cup of hot chocolate.

Today's Gratitude Item: That our house is not built on a cliff. Seriously! A house not too far from us which was built on a cliff had to be evacuated due to a landslide. When I walked down to the ferry this afternoon, there was a news crew setting up to do a live broadcast about the slip. This one was a bit too close to home for my liking.
