Blue Gates

This could be the entrance to a prison. They are depressing and appropriately barred. All that's missing is the sign that says "abandon hope all ye who enter here".

Blue Gates

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being short. Its nice not to have to worry to duck for "low" archways. The story behind this one is funny in a "you had to be there" kind of way.

Window World

Another spherical apo creation. Its called "window world" because the gold squares remind me of windows. The only question left is are we looking in, or are "they" looking out?

Window World / Cosmic Marble

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting more work. My data entry "stint" has been extended. I finished up with my dad's stuff and now one of his colleagues has more stuff that needs to get done. So I still get to go to work with dad and I still get paid.

Galactic Golf Ball

This is the first graphic created with my new machine. Large internal memory = faster rendering = very happy apoholic.

Galactic Golf Ball

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The end of a lovely long weekend. In fact, having a long weekend was so much fun, I think we will repeat the experience next weekend (Next Tuesday is a public holiday, and "we" are taking Monday off as well).

Gold Gyration

Its amazing what the "final transform" in Apophysis can do. This one has the same parameters as Chocolate Egg Factory.

Gold Gyration

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Air conditioning! Today has been really really hot (and humid). The plan for tomorrow is to get up earlier than today so that our early morning walk is more pleasant.

Chocolate Egg Factory

Easter is coming. Gotta get ready. Whilst I don't celebrate Easter (its that whole Jewish thing), I am very much in favour of chocolate. And lots of it!

Chocolate Egg Factory

The large image is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Fixed (ie: faster) internet. We switched providers earlier in the week and they made a small mistake which meant we got dial up speed whilst being on a broad band plan! Dialup is s*l*o*w. It got fixed today so we are back up to speed again :)

Christmas Tree Ornament / Metallic Sphere

After trying really hard to generate something for Christmas, this finally appeared - about two weeks too late! It will have to keep for next year. I don't "do" Christmas, but the buyers at Shutterstock do and its very worthwhile to create Christmas stuff to meet the demand.

Christmas Tree Ornament / Metallic Sphere

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to make bread! Specifically, being able to make plaited cheese rolls that look and taste great. Gotta love that bread maker thingy!

Fractal Strawberry

Who knew that fractals could imitate fruit?

Fractal Strawberry

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not having coffee flavoured gelato at lunch time. If it costs more than $2.50 for a single scoop, its not fun anymore. Which is why, even though my dad would have happily paid for ice cream for both of us, "we" decided we would pass! Ice cream, must, above all, be fun.

Gold Love

Its shiny, it sparkles and its made of gold silk. Its another "Valentines" classic.

Gold Love

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Good *dental* health. As in my annual visit to the dentist went very smoothly (insert sigh of relief here).

Gold Fall / Ring of Leaves

For those who wish to experience Autumn in style. Its still summer here but I'm trying to beat the rush :)

Gold Fall / Ring of Leaves

The large image is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The best bread that I have ever tasted. My mom made it using her new bread maker and it was amazing. Light, fluffy and brilliant. It was plaited herb bread topped with par meson cheese. Total heaven.

Psychedelic Fractal Compass

With this as a guide, its impossible to get lost!

Psychedelic Fractal Compass

The large image can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A 50c ice cream from McDonald's, eaten at lunchtime in the company of my dad (we went to work together today - it was fun).

Electric Essence

This is my first fractal of 2007. Viewed close up, the two "bright spots" are actually infinity symbols.

Electric Essence

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Peace. And the ability to find it even as the world around you seems to be falling apart.

Daisy Chain

This time, I tried to get the thing to follow the rule of thirds. Also, in Tierazon, the colours were too bright so the entire picture got another semi opaque (white) layer on top of it which solved the problem nicely.

Daisy Chain

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The inspiration that sometimes comes from taking time away from the computer!

Mystic Ripple

The neat thing about Tierazon is that the graphics render really quickly and you can get some pretty weird psychedelic effects. That, and the graphics produced have already gained some Shutterstock sales.

Mystic Ripple

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the DVD's I ordered on book binding from my local library arrived today and were totally free. Have already watched the first DVD and it was very helpful / inspiring.

Infinite Ripple

If you look really hard, there is an infinity symbol in the middle of this one. Made with Tierazon.

Infinite Ripple

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Fettuccine and meatballs for dinner. Yum!

Shadow World

Sometimes the world is one of shadows where darkness and light are interwoven.

Shadow World

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting some data entry work to do next week. Its casual stuff for my dad's office which means that I get to go work with him! Kind of like the adult version of "bring your kid to work day". I get paid and its probably more interesting than staying home and doing laundry. Not that I'm complaining. Holidays are good. School starts back in a month and am enjoying them whilst they last.

Solar Flare

Created in Tierazon, using the classic Mandelbrot Set formula. The graphic was then "tweaked" / zoomed and recoloured. A lot. The only post work is in the frame and signature.

Solar Flare

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a new fridge. The old one was making some rather worrying noises and we were becoming concerned. Getting the new fridge into place and removing the old fridge was something of an adventure but it worked out well and nothing got damaged.

Sleeping Tsunami

This one reminded me of waves in a vast ocean, with just a hint of menace.

Sleeping Tsunami

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That instead of charging $1.00 for reserves, my local library is letting us have them for free until the end of the month. They did a similar thing last year in a bid to attract more people to the library and I am glad that they are repeating this rather special offer.

Smooth Star

Was playing a bit more with the "radial blur" variation and got this. Its either a star of a flower, depending on one's mood.

Smooth Star

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The scroll "thingy" on my mouse. After years of having a laptop without the benefit of said "thingy" am finally coming to appreciate how useful they are.

Unchained Passion

Took that "bad tiling script" and made a heart from the result.

Unchained Passion

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Some very kind comments that my work received when I posted it to Fracfan Forum. Getting positive feedback is always a real boost.

Christmas Curl

Made on Christmas day using Apo 2.5b (new version was made available on Christmas Eve).

Christmas Curl

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That most of the software that I use is freely available off the Internet. This means that getting a new computer and putting updated software on it was a very straight forward task.

Checkers

The "bad tiling script" strikes again. Does this remind anyone else out there of a rather funky kitchen floor? With an emphasis on the funky.

Checkers

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Literally waking up and realising that I can draw! To be more precise, have needed a picture of a frog that will tessellate and managed to draw one after waking up from a nap. This is a minor miracle as my artistic skills are usually limited to those of a digital nature.

Cupid's Arrow

Getting this image was nothing short of blind luck! Its a good one for Valentine's day though. Of course, Valentines day is rather annoying so its getting posted today. As usual, if you can't make out the heart in the image, try using your imagination and squinting.

Cupid's Arrow

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That "djinni" actually a word! This piece of information came in very handy when playing scrabble.

Gold Catena

Turns out that "Catena" is a chain or connected series. Found it out by looking up synonyms for "chain". You learn something new everyday.

Gold Catena

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: My new computer arrived today!! It is a truly wonderful thing. Everything is "up and running" except for my printer / scanner which I could not connect because I need a USB adapter / cable to connect them up. The new machine has loads more internal memory than the old one which is really important when one is rendering large graphics. Best thing about this experience is the speed with which the new computer arrived. Was only expecting it some time next week yet it arrived first thing this morning.

Serenity

Reminded me of ripples on moonlit night. Not that I have ever seen ripples that look quite like this.

">Serenity

The large image can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting my graphic for purim finished. The actual festival is still two months away but getting the graphic done took a lot of time and effort. It was worth it though. Of course you will have to wait until the start of March to see the fruits of my labour :)

Earth Weave

Was in the mood to experiment! Being somewhat tired of my "normal" blue woven graphics, took the latest one and made a negative image from it. Am not sure if I like the result, but at least its different.

Earth Weave

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Paint Tubes in Paint Shop Pro. Basically these are a cool tool that make things like drawing a gold chain / piece of rope really easy. When I showed my mom how the "rope" tube worked, she was amazed. Her actual words were "show this to your father".

Twighlight Love

Still experimenting with that "heart" variation.

Twighlight Love

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my dad's foot is better. He damaged it by wearing shoes past their "use by" date and managed to get a rather nasty looking blister on his heel which stopped him from walking with me yesterday. Happily it was better this morning! Lets just say that walking on one's own is not as much fun as walking with a companion.

Silver Stems

Yet another woven fractal. This one is best appreciated in large size.

Silver Stems

Today's Gratitude Item: Being invited to contribute to Orbit Trap. Orbit Trap is a group blog that revolves around fractal art and being asked to contribute is a real buzz.

Unspoken Hope

Hope is the cruelest of all emotions. Gone unspoken, it looks something like this (that's my story and I'm sticking with it).

Unspoken Hope

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a new desktop computer. At least, ordering a new desktop that will be shipped within 8 - 10 working days. My brother was invaluable in advising me on getting the best deal for my needs and Dell allowed me to customise / order a machine. They were super helpful and their service was outstanding! Best advice is to phone them and order over the phone if you can't get exactly what you need through their online customisation process. Way to go Dell! You guys "rock".

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Inverted Ripple

Its a fractal ripple. If you invert (ie: negative image) orange, you get blue. So in a way, the title makes sense.

Inverted Ripple

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That someone out there likes my work enough to put it on the front cover of a book they have written! Apparently, this graphic was exactly what the author was looking for. What a buzz.

Soft Ice

This one is particularly appropriate for winter, which of course means that it was created in midsummer. That always happens! I guess my computer thinks it is in America. It keeps trying to use American spelling as well which is very annoying.

Soft Ice

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting my new camera. Its a Canon Powershot and I'm thrilled with it. Have already taken some shots and am learning a lot. This is so much fun!!

Smooth Loving

Made with Apophysis and perfect for Valentines day. The irony is that this graphic contains two of my pet peeves, a Valentines theme and the colour pink. Yet it "works". Go figure.

Smooth Loving

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That images like the one above are made possible in Apophysis. That one is my biggest earner on Shutterstock at the moment.
