Frustration

This one is *loosely* based on real life events! The teacher is banging his head against the board because one of the students (down the back) just asked when the test was going to be.

Frustration

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A new version of apophysis is out! You can download it over at Source Forge. Its been a while since we got new "toys" to play with. I'm especially excited because the release coincides with my holidays.

Big Question

This could be the moment every girl dreams of, and the moment many guys dread. I thought that the graphic would be relatively easy to make and quite salable.

Disclaimer: This image was not inspired by real life events :)

Big Question

Today's Gratitude Item: After a long term, school holidays are finally here! I'm so happy :)

Dawn Rapids

This one took an insanely long time to appear. Some days are like that. I'm not even sure if I like it that much (deep sigh).

Dawn Rapids

Today's Gratitude Item: A spectacular sunrise.

Hot Wheels

Psychedelic wheels that would make one hot desktop. Even though I loathe pink, in this case it "works".

Hot Wheels

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Ice blue days! Those are the ones where the sky is clear blue and its so cold that you can see your breath. Sometimes, I only feel really alive when the wind is blowing gales or when its so cold that any bit of wind slices right through you.

Gold Fyre

Presenting an experiment with the "flipped disc" style of fractal. It turned out quite well. This graphic was designed as wide screen wallpaper.

Gold Fyre

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Those small "post it" note coloured strips. Very useful for when you need to "flag" a bit of paper and don't want it to get lost.

Subtle Swirl

Made for wide screens. Got lucky with the gradient and a bit carried away with the composition. It looks best in large size.

Subtle Swirl

Today's Gratitude Item: Non-contacts. Those are the periods where you do not have to teach a class. Generally used for catch-up / prep / organising stuff.

Spheres of Influence

The spheres in question were made from scratch in Apophysis. Trust me, its easy when you know how. This image is designed to be used as "wide screen" wallpaper. So go ahead and download it. You know you want to :)

Spheres of Influence

The wide screen wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: More duraseal. Specifically, the not so wide stuff. Its much easier / faster to cover books when using the "smaller" rolls.

Tea for Two?

Complete with biscuits, this scene was very time consuming to create. Having said that, I learned a lot from doing it.

The large version is suitable as "wide screen" wallpaper (it measures 1680 - 1050). Enjoy.

Tea for Two?

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to stay indoors all day today. It was raining (again) but I did not have to be anywhere or do anything, so the wet weather was not a problem. It was brilliant actually, I'm all caught up on sleep due to getting up late and taking an afternoon nap (it was one of those days).

Fractal Coffee Mug

Created in blender, this mug features a "recycled" fractal. It took a while to make, but it was time well spent.

The hardest part was getting the handle to cooperate.

Fractal Coffee Mug

Today's Gratitude Item: One more week of term to go before winter break!

Floral Explosion

Here is another fractal that is available as desktop wallpaper. Enjoy :)

It was made in a bit of a rush and turned out much better than expected.

Floral Explosion

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: "Naked Trees". As in trees that don't have any leaves on them. Seeing those bare branches is inspiring! I love looking at fractals in nature.

Blue Warp

Might look good as desktop wallpaper. This one is "experimental" and am wondering how / if it will sell on SS.

Blue Warp

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Mum's homemade lasagne. Have not had this incredible dish for ages. Guess the cold weather is good for something after all!

Druid HQ (Black)

A "classic" piece which reminded me of a forest but in purple / blue. Hence the rather odd title.

Druid HQ (Black)

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the electricity blackout earlier in the evening was relatively brief. Inconvenient, but brief.

Volley Ball Guys

The competition last month on SS was "Outdoor Living". This was one of my entries. It did not "win" or make it onto a light box, but it was fun to make.

Volley Ball Guys

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The "undo" function - its especially cool to be able to "undo" mistakes made when teaching a class using an electronic white board. That and being able to save stuff and then resume the lesson the following day. With an electronic white board, rewriting problems / notes on the board is a thing of the past.

Quantum Flower

Took a while to get the background right. Was fun to make.

Quantum Flower

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The fact that it was raining this morning. Normally rain is not good - but when its an excuse to get an extra hours sleep its wonderful! I love Sunday mornings (sigh).

NUMB3RS - Desert Edition

This one was inspired by my old Rabbi who did an amazing Adult Ed series on the book of Numbers back in 2004. Seen as we are once again reading the book of Numbers in shul at the moment, felt inspired to create this poster.

I probably should have put in something about us having the original talking donkey as well :)

NUMB3RS - Desert Edition

The huge version (for printing purposes) is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A lucky day. Literally! Its a long story, but it was great fun and its all good.

Vases - Primary Colours

If you look closely, you'll see that there is a fractal design on the vases! Its subtle, but its there. Take a look at the large version to appreciate the detail.

This graphic can be used as desktop wallpaper. Just download the large version and enjoy.

Vases - Primary Colours

Today's Gratitude Item: Having just enough time to get all my "stuff" done before sunset.

Gold Flower - Wide Version

Presenting another candidate for your desktop. This one is in "wide version" with space at the top for cropping if necessary.

Its on days like this that I wish screens were a default size / ratio (deep sigh). Of course having a wide screen is very very nice.

Gold Flower - Wide Version

The large version (for wallpaper) is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That both photocopiers I would normally use at school were busy meaning that the lovely "resource lady" offered to help me out and copied my 8 pages of revision material into handy little booklets for my students. Saved paper and time. Turns out that who you know is important!

Mirror Guy

If you look closely, you'll see that he's wearing a red bow tie. I wonder where he is going, who he's going there with and what he will be doing.

Mirror Guy - all dressed up.

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: School trips and going with the flow. Lets just say that my Period 1 class today was really really small. Which let me experiment with that new software on my whiteboard. A good time was had by all.

Gallery Guy

My fractals finally made it into a gallery. OK, so the gallery is virtual and the audience is basically made of metal, but its a start.

Gallery Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The remote patch thingy at school which means that getting new software put onto my "work" computer was really simple. Said software is called "Autograh" and its great for teaching graphs and transformations to students. Heaps of fun to play with, especially when used with an interactive white board.

Answer Guy

I've done some of the work, now I need to know what the silver kid is saying to the 'know it all'. Bearing in mind that there's a teacher nearby, it should not breach standards of good taste and decency.

Answer Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: This Distance / Time Graph activity. Its interactive and we did it as a class on the interactive white board. Great fun and a very easy way to teach what can be a difficult topic.

I Love School ...

Especially when its closed. Turns out that teachers and their students are not that different!

I Love School ...

Today's Gratitude Item: Being warm. Especially as it is cold and raining outside. Even my fingers are toasty which is a rare treat :)

Horrid Fascination

I really, really, really don't like pink. Only problem is that the pink gradient really makes this one "pop". Other gradients just don't "do" it (I tried).

Basically, its similar to a really gruesome car crash. Don't want to look at it, don't want to look away. I think I need help!

Horrid Fascination

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A perfect day. It featured a 40c walk (ie: a walk in which I found 40c worth of coins - two 10c coins and a 20c piece). It also included an afternoon nap, reading a good book and moderate amounts of great food. What more could one ask for?

Juggling Guy

This graphic was inspired by actual events. Of course in the real world version, only three balls were being juggled, the audience were all taller than the juggler (its not my fault I'm short) and no metals (precious or otherwise) were involved.

Juggling Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: No "homework". I'm all ready for school on Monday which means I can have a lovely, stress free weekend.

Floral Fantasy

Presenting another graphic in my "desk top wallpaper" series. This one is dedicated to all those "pastel" people out there.

*a pastel person is someone who likes soft, delicate colours. In my experience, "pastel people" are some of the most beautiful, gentle people on the planet.

Floral Fantasy

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Free lunch. It was provided by the school as part of the professional development for using electronic white boards. The lunchtime presentation was a great opportunity to see how my colleagues use this relatively new technology in their classrooms.

Bright Box

Sometimes thinking inside the box is good too!

Bright Box

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That today was much, much better than yesterday. True that would not take much but am less stressed and happier now than I was 24 hours ago.

Tree Web

This seemed like an appropriate graphic for World Environment Day.

Tree Web / Futuristic Stained Glass

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Smooth peanut butter. Its easier to spread than the crunchy stuff :)

Pencil Guy

Turns out that "Golden Guy" likes his stationery! I wonder if he realises that he is leaving a trail.

Pencil Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Discounted petrol. The petrol stations dropped the price of fuel by 5c per liter in honour of the Queen's Birthday. I needed gas and remembered to fill up in time.

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Balloon Guy

This little guy is all ready to celebrate Queen's birthday. He even has balloons in her favourite colours! OK, so I don't actually know that red, blue and white are the Queen's favourite colours, but those are the colours on the UK and NZ flag - so I'm guessing that she must like them at least a little.

Balloon Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not having to work tomorrow :)

Golden Guy Winning a Race

Made in blender, this is my first scene where the characters are moving rather than standing still!

Golden Guy Winning a Race

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That Team New Zealand beat Luna Rossa in the first of the Louis Vuitton Cup final race series. Only four more wins needed and then "we" get to race Alinghi for the America's Cup. Normally I don't "do" sport, but the whole country is Yachting mad and sadly, its contagious. If you can't beat them...

Ripple Effect

Made in Apo and then tweaked in PSP, mainly to get the colours "right".

Ripple Effect

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A three day weekend! Public holidays are a very good thing.
