E-Motion

As in electronic motion (rather than feelings). It started as a single fractal and ended up as a patchwork / collage piece. Its very experimental (which means I don't know if I like it).

E-Motion

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a computer at school! Its a long story and whilst not unexpected, I was not expecting it to happen quite so soon.

Star Gate - The Fractal

I'm not a "Star Gate" fan, in fact, I only watched a couple of episodes way back when they first made the series. For some reason, the name sprang to mind when I made this (in Apo).

Star Gate - The Fractal

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: After a very quiet start to what should be a busy term, have been "booked" for the rest of the week. Gives new meaning to the phrase "sweet relief"*

*"Substitute" teaching is called "Relieving" in New Zealand, and if a teacher needs time off, then they put in for "Relief" - I know its bad form to explain puns but every so often, its necessary.

Gold Flower Beads

These would make really funky jewelery. Its a pity that they are virtual rather than real.

Gold Flower Beads

The wide screen wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Email. Its quick, easy and very convenient. Its hard to believe that we once got along without it!

O-Ring

Its orange, and its ring shaped. Turns out that O-rings are machine parts that are very useful. Except when they fail! That can lead to catastrophes like the Challenger disaster.

O-Ring

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to print "spotless" documents. I finally got a new "Brother". As in a new brother printer. My old one was very old and the drum was in need of replacement. It was also BIG. The new model is smaller, smoother and prints beautifully. No spots! And it smells "new" too. Was really really easy to setup as well.

Consternation

Called that because it was surprisingly hard to make and finding the "right" colours was really tough. Created on one of "those" days.

Consternation

The wallpaper size is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Subways for lunch! We were out shopping and got hungry :) The food was very very good.

Today's Gratitude Item: That someone who saw my Tish B'Av piece thought I was a graphic designer :)

Kosher Black Hole

This one comes under the heading "What was I thinking". First, its not that great. Second, it took a massive 13 hours to render. What a waste of computing time.

Kosher Black Hole

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A good day's work. After a "lull" in that department, things are getting busy again.

Escher's Desk

At least, if he had a computer, I like to think he'd consider this design for his desktop - at least for a short time.

Escher's Desk

This one looks best in large size.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to use the Internet to track down my mother's best friend from "way back". They had lost touch and mom wanted to reconnect which she managed to do. Warm fuzzies all round.

Tisha B'Av 5767

The 9th Av (and three weeks) commemorate a time of sadness on the Jewish calendar. To find out why, take a look at the preceding link.

Tisha B'Av

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That we get to experience times of sorrow. Without sorrow, how can one truly appreciate joy??

Star Fire Weave

Here's another "Star of David" tiled wallpaper. This one is for wide screens.

Star Fire Weave

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my filing finally got done. Had about 3 months worth of "stuff" on top of my printer in a lovely neat pile. It only took me about 20 minutes to file which was good. That's the good news. The bad news is that I already have a new pile of "stuff" forming! It would take me too long to file stuff as it comes in, so I leave it and then file it all at once. Its faster that way (trust me, I checked).

United Nation

Made from scratch in Apo, I finally figured out how to get triangular / Star of David type tiles rather than square ones. It was actually quite simple. Having said that, this design still took ages to make.

The title "United Nation" refers to Israel. Its a nation which was in exile and has now been "united" again.

United Nation

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Free tea. Last week we were overcharged for the tea that we bought (the price on the shelve was cheaper than the price in the system). My dad noticed this and when he complained *with proof of purchase*, the store refunded us for the tea in full. That's apparently their policy. Good on them!

Today's Gratitude Item: That Gmail is so easy to use. I love how it lets me organise contacts / groups and import addresses etc. Its great. If you want a gmail invite, just ask me and I'll send you one.

Ladder Guy

To climb or not to climb? That is the question.

Ladder Guy

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Items: Hot tea. Hot chocolate. My heater. My electric blanket. Gloves. Does anyone see a pattern here?

Space Patch

This one has a neat embroidered effect that came as a total surprise. It could be one of those patches that astronauts have sewn onto their uniforms.

Space Patch - Wallpaper

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being kept in the loop! My brother emailed me to let me a piece of sad news about one of my old Primary school teachers. Even though the news was not great (the teacher has Alzheimer's), it's still good to know whats going on.

Alien Orange

Not sure if I like it. The idea behind this desktop wallpaper is that the icons can be placed next to the design (on the white spaces). Its meant to be funky cool but am not sure if it "works".

You can be the judge of that!

Alien Orange

Today's Gratitude Item: A hat! Or to be more precise, a gorgeous knitted hat that will be perfect for when its cold outside and I want to go for a walk. Currently, when its cold, my ears freeze due to lack of a hat. Now that won't happen.

Fractal Bike Wallpaper

The wheels of this bike are fractals! Took a while to design, hopefully someone out there likes it enough to download it as their wide screen wallpaper.

Fractal Bike Wallpaper

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting the jumper I was making finished! It was not a difficult project but its always nice when things turn out well.

White Caps

Took a very long time to find a "good" gradient for this one. Took less than two minutes to render. Best appreciated in large size.

White Caps

Today's Gratitude Item: Having relatively small hands / fingers. It makes folding tiny origami models possible.

Zebra Crossing

Q: Why did Golden Guy cross the road??
A: To get to the other side.

Zebra Crossing

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to "sleep in" today. It was cold, and there really was no point in leaving my nice warm bed, so I didn't. Not until way later than usual.

Clockwork Orange

These bright orange cogs were very easy to make, thanks to the brilliant instructions over at FracFan Forum. Designed as wide screen wallpaper.

Clock Work Orange

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Aspirin! My arm is stiff and sore from knitting myself a jersey (by machine). This "project" has taken the better part of three days. It would be a lot easier to buy something warm to wear but the stuff in the shops is all really ugly at the moment.

Cat Toy

What cat would not appreciate a toy like this? Its designed as wide screen wallpaper.

Enjoy

Cat Toy

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having hot water again. We got "cut off" last night (electricity / storm related issues) and it only came back on around lunch time today. Lets just say that having a hot shower was very nice indeed.

Lightning Star of David

Originally made for the Israeli Speed skating team uniform. They could not use the fractal as it was too complex for on their uniforms but they did say my work inspired the final design (which looks great).

Lets hope they do really well in the championships in Columbia later in the year.

Lightning Star of David

The large version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A new version of blender is now available. It has some cool new features and bug fixes. Happiness is updated software that installs easily and works like a dream.

Golden Catch

I need a vacation! I need summer!! One out of two ain't bad.

Golden Catch

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting this post out before the power goes (we're having storms and brown outs but so far, so good).

String Beads

The beads in question are fractals. They would make cool "disco balls" as well. Best viewed in large size.

String Beads

Today's Gratitude Item: That Paint Shop Pro lets you make your own "paint tubes". Trust me, this is a really great thing.

Row, row, row your boat ...

The boat was originally made of wood, but it got changed to red plastic on advice from my dad.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding a great page with lots of cool Blender Tutorials to play with.

Fuzzy Family

This family of fuzzballs are looking for a place to call home. Are you the one to take them into your heart (and onto your desktop)? Feel free to download the large version (designed for a wide screen).

Fuzzy Family

Today's Gratitude Item: That my dad really liked the birthday present I got for him. Even though the gift was small, it got a smile of genuine pleasure.

Heart of Hearts

Made with a very handy "heart" script. Took a fair bit of post processing but am pleased with the final result.

Heart of Hearts

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The horrible weather. If forced me to be creative with the piece that I was working on. Rather than go out and get photos (which I'm bad at doing anyway), I stayed indoors and created the graphics needed in Paint Shop Pro.

Pale Parchment

A classic Apo piece, designed as wide screen wallpaper. Am particularly pleased with the gradient / colouring of this one.

Golden Guy loves 4th July!

Dedicated to lovers of fireworks everywhere.

Golden Guy loves 4th July!

Today's Gratitude Item: Oliviah, who has often told me that she likes "Golden Guy". That kind of encouragement really helps me keep doing this.

Surf Guy

After a tough day at the office, Golden Guy needed to "chill out" a bit. This image can be used as "wide screen" wallpaper :)

Surf Guy

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That I did not eat anything on offer at the Takapuna Starbucks last Saturday. Turns out that they have been displaying an outdated "A" rating*. Happily, they were caught in a North Shore City Council Blitz. They should have been displaying a "C" grade (Ewww). Not cool Starbucks :(

*According to the North Shore City website
"Grades are based on the hygiene standards of the outlet, the maintenance of the building, food handling and storage practices, and the percentage of food handlers trained in food safety, working in that eatery."

Magenta Moment

Thought it was time to revisit wire and tube type fractals. Here's the result. Large size designed to fit wide screen monitors.

Today's Gratitude Item: Beating the rain! It was too close for comfort but I made it home (and dry) after walking. This has not happened for a long time. Sadly winter is finally making itself felt and in Auckland, that means rain and lots of it.

Setting Sun

Presenting another "wide screen" wallpaper. Enjoy.

Setting Sun

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The rain, which gives one an excuse to stay warm and dry indoors and some funny (but really bad) television.
