Do you Feel Lucky?

This one was surprisingly time consuming to make. Hopefully the effort was worth it.

Do you Feel Lucky?

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting home in time to go for a walk before the sunset *just*. The days are getting noticeably shorter and soon the luxury of walking outside will be limited to the weekends (walking will then take place on the treadmill inside).

3 to 2

As in going from 3 dimensions to 2. This is one of the images that I sort of liked when it was made, but now I'm not so sure. It might have been better to leave the 3D background as it was and publish it "plain".

3 to 2

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Co-incidences. Like when they guy next door (literally) uses Apophysis too! Finding that out was a surreal experience, but in a good way.

Caution

The background image reminded me of an icy river, which lead to the idea of having safety cones. Then the manhole appeared. It looks like something has escaped out of it.

Caution!

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Wellington boots (in small size). Very useful for when washing cars!

Fractal Fabric

It's been a *very* long time since I made one of these fabric like designs. Am pleased with how it turned out.

Fractal Fabric

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: All my students were at school today for their assessment. Not having to get students to "catch up" on assessments makes life a lot more simple.

Gorgeous Futility

I love the colours of fall. What is less exciting is the prospect of all that mess to clean up. Raking leaves is truly an exercise in futility. The garden will look great for all of five minutes until yet more leaves fall.

Gorgeous Futility

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having time to go for a walk outside, even though work finished later than usual.

Woven Blues

I wish I had a hat like the one in this image. Its far more attractive than the baseball cap that I own. It would do a better job of keeping the sun off my face as well :)

Woven Blues

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to touch type. I tend to type a lot, so being able to do it "without looking" is really useful.

Bare Foot Weave

Dedicated to all of you out there who have experienced the joys of hunting for seashells on a beach. Bare feet are of course, part of the deal.

Bare Foot Weave

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That tomorrow is already Wednesday. I love "three day weeks" almost as much as the long weekends that precede them.

Monday, March 24, 2008

Pythagorean Triplets

Dedicated to one of my 9th grade students who got the terms "triples" and "triplets" confused. It made me smile.

Pythagorean Triplets

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Another glorious day of "no school". Having tomorrow off as well is really the icing on the cake. I love school, but long weekends allow me to "catch up" on design type stuff.

Digital Darts

Dedicated to all those darts fans out there. I'm pretty hopeless at that particular game, but the dartboard was easy to create :)

Digital Darts

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having someone to bounce ideas off. Turns out that sometimes, design can be a team sport.

Egg Convention

This one is dedicated to my HOD. She gave all of us Easter eggs on Thursday to thank us for the work done to date. She did not have to do this :) I especially appreciated that she asked me if I would be offended to be given an Easter egg, given that I'm Jewish. I explained that chocolate never offends. I'm more than happy to receive gifts for Easter and Christmas. Presents are good. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Egg Convention

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to read quickly. Especially when the book concerned is OK, but not great. Life's too short to spend a long time reading "OK" books.

Target

This "fractal dartboard" comes complete with a ready to use dart.

Target

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding 20c on today's walk. Finding money whilst walking is happily a common occurrence for us. Less common is getting a total of more than $3.00 per week. This week, our total so far is $3.10. This means that our weekly trip to the child cancer wishing well will be quite fun.

Purim Sameach!

Purim is finally here. The graphic below celebrates the fact.

Purim 5768

The large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Five glorious days off. Having Easter fall so early in the year is really surreal though. I keep thinking "It can't be Easter, Pesach is still a month away". Weird.

Fractal Carpet

This fractal carpet comes complete with a cute puppy. Hopefully he is house broken.

Fractal Carpet

Today's Gratitude Item: That dance class went well today. My teacher was away and she left us a list of dances to dance / review. We got through it and had fun.

Galaxies to Go

These reminded me of spiral galaxies. They have been packed up in a box and are ready for shipping.

Galaxies to Go

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A quieter day at work. Managed to catch up on a lot of little things that needed to get done.

Pink Shells

Had fun with this one. The spiral in the shell is echoed in the main fractal.

Pink Shells

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Rediscovering Les Posen's Free Dance Videos. The best thing is that there is a video of a dance that I plan to review on Weds with the group. Am looking forward to it.

Supreme Peacock

Appeared as if by magic on my screen. Wish I knew how this happened.

Supreme Peacock

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That our dance performance went reasonably well. The audience seemed to enjoy it which was good. Its fun to perform, but once or twice a year is more than enough for me.

Snake Scales

Snake skin does not quite look like this, but its pretty close.

Snake Scales

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having fun. We practiced our dance for tomorrow's performance and due to a "fussy" CD player, ended up having our final run through outside with the music we needed playing from someone's car stereo. Dodging to avoid the low branches of a nearby tree made the experience even more memorable.

Tea for Two

There's a song about this one.

Tea for Two

The wallpaper version can be found at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The end of an extremely busy week. As is so often the case, "busy" translates to "$$" which is good :)

Fish Squared

It would be really cool if one could get origami paper that looked like the fractal background. It would be expensive though.

Fish Squared

The wallpaper version can be downloaded at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting dance shoes for our performance on Sunday. Said shoes fit perfectly and were the last pair in my size.

Spine Stretch

Ever wonder what your spine looks like when you have had a good stretch? Its probably not quite as colourful as this.

Spine Stretch

The wallpaper version can be found at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Supportive parents! I've discovered that calling parents before small problems become big problems can be incredibly useful. It helps that I work at an independent school where the parents are *literally* heavily invested in their children's education.

Blue Balloon

This one is done totally in Illustrator. Its less demanding than the rainbow / fractal version.

Blue Balloon

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting some "Up and Go" for use in emergencies. Turns out that sometimes school gets so busy, I literally do not have time to eat. Consuming an emergency "Up and Go" should help when the going gets tough.

Monday, March 10, 2008

Hot Air Balloon

The neat thing about fractals is that they make surreal clouds.

Hot Air Balloon

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding an interactive lesson on My Maths that I can use to teach my students how to rearrange formulae. My Maths is a UK site and often the content up there does not match what I need to teach. Happily, this is an exception.

Justice

Its strange how such a simple concept can be so illusive.

Justice

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: New books :) Working at a library covering new books has its perks. Getting to read the new / interesting books first is one of them.

Saturday, March 08, 2008

Metal Fatigue

As in the design looked like metal and I was suffering from fatigue when it was created.

Metal Fatigue

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Fresh Garlic! Lets just say dinner tonight was a roaring success.

What a Hoot

Its nocturnal! Just like me.

What a Hoot!

The wallpaper version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That long sleeves can be rolled up! Otherwise I'd be just about cooked by now. My new shirt is very nice, but its long sleeved and whilst we are slowly heading into Autumn, we're not there yet.

Diamond Flow

This design reminded me of fabric billowing in the breeze. From there it was a logical step to create a set of clothes, complete with designer label. The clothes are based on an origami model that I folded a while back.

Diamond Flow

The wallpaper version can be found at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Rediscovering some old resources that will be perfect for a topic we are teaching later in the year!

Infinity Cube

Am particularly pleased with this one. Making the "toy" block was rather fun.

Infinity Cube

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That some of my students decided to celebrate "Maths Day" by giving me a small present. They gave me a very cute card (saying "Happy Maths Day), a notepad and some permanent markers. Unexpected but quite fun.

Nothing but Net

The interwoven string pattern reminded me of the business end of a tennis racquet.

Nothing but Net

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having successful tutoring sessions. Its good to get back into it.

Monday, March 03, 2008

Solar Explosion

Reminded me of a flaming ball of fire - almost.

Solar Explosion

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That even though today was a "Murphy Day"*, it ended well. Am hoping that things run more smoothly tomorrow.

*A "Murphy Day" is a day in which whatever can go wrong, does go wrong.

Rain Tex

As in a textured rainbow :) Sometimes naming the art is as hard as creating it.

Rain Tex

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: More dancing! Its been an action packed weekend and I'm looking forward to life getting back to "normal".

Spring 2008

The final in my "seasons" series. And one of the easiest to make. Not too sure about the pink though ...

Spring 2008

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A day spent dancing. We had leaders camp today which saw Israeli dance leaders from all round the country up in Auckland sharing dances. It was fun but exhausting.
