Fashion Fabric

If only clothing could be made from fractal cloth. That would be a designers dream.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally making a start on Stats assignment #4. This one is due at the end of October, but I'm keen to get it "out of the way". The way things are going, it might take a while to get it done.

Today's Gratitude Item: A new phone :) This one is a landline but its portable and a lot smaller than its clunky predecessor.

Winter Fresh

Inspired by those bright wintry days where the weather is clear but very very cold. As in nice to look at, but you don't want to be outside in it!

Winter Fresh

Today's Gratitude Item: A weekend where I don't have any marking to do :)

Magenta Surf

In my world, the ocean is not always blue / gray. In fact, the water skiing is best when its gold and purple :)

Magenta Surf

The wallpaper version can be seen at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A shiny new version of Mozilla :) It took a bit of getting used to, but I think that there are some definite improvements here.

Furry Fiend

I don't like cats. Possibly because they have claws and are not too careful in who they scratch.

">Furry Fiend

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A problem with one of the websites I look after appears to have been a temporary glitch that fixed itself. I wish all my problems would fix themselves (insert deep sigh here). Truth be told, some of my students are making my life (and theirs) much harder than necessary.

Making Waves

Yet another in my water skier series. The waves on this one work :)

Making Waves

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being surrounded by supportive, encouraging people. Both at school and in dance group, the people around me are really amazing. Its a real gift to be supported by such positive, energetic individuals.

Cross Country Skiing

Going cross country skiing could be risky. You never know where you might end up.

Cross Country Skiing

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That they Olympics is finally over! I was getting really tired of hearing about it on the news day after day after day.

Ice Plain

I rotated the fractal a bit to match the skier. The thought of skiing makes me smile, mostly because recently our "world famous" ski fields were temporarily closed. The reason? Too much snow!

Ice Plain

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting cheap batteries :) Its always nice when that happens.

Harlequin Gold

The gold and red in this one work quite well. Especially for the boxing theme.

Harlequin Gold

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting inspiration for new vectors. Sometimes coming up with ideas for what to do next is a real challenge. Now all I need to do is find the time to take reference photos and make more images.

Rose Challenge

The "Rose Bowl Challenge" is actually a hockey thing, but I had the cricket image "spare". For some reason this one appeals :)

Rose Challenge

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Doing well in the first assignment for my Stats course. I'm hoping my other assignments will be as favorably received.

Environemental Onslaught

Sometimes it all gets a bit much. I'm really tired of hearing about global warming, carbon credits and how "the end is nigh". Next time someone tells me there's a problem, I'll just say "Life's a game. No one gets out a alive!". Basically, we're all going to die, so there's no point getting worked up about stuff that one cannot really change.

Environmental Onslaught

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a fantastic seat for the school production "Music Man". Said show was extremely well done and was most enjoyable. My students coerced me into going and I'm very glad they did - they were awesome.

Digital Cricket

Not quite as popular as rugby over here, but still followed with enthusiasm by some (I'm not included in the "some").

Digital Cricket

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting my "tutor page" for the school year book done! The thing is due in on Friday and I was worried about getting it done on time.

Hanging On

I'm wondering if this should not have the text "hang on buddy, Friday's coming" somewhere. Although this guy looks like he is having fun.

Hanging On!

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: My first "on demand" sale at Shutterstock. Suffice it to say "on demand" downloads are worth more than regular downloads - not a huge amount more, but every little bit counts :)

First there was the play, then there was the motion picture. Now here's the wallpaper.

The Iceman Cometh

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally finishing the "Goal Setting" interviews with my tutor group. It took a while, but we got there in the end.

Wind Surfing (in Style)

This is a sport that I have no inclination to try. It looks hard and I don't like getting wet! Its probably fun once you get the hang of it though.

Windsurfing (in style)

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The local $2.00 shop. I needed a "Barbie" type doll for am upcoming lesson on ratio / proportion / scale factors. Managed to get one for $2.00 rather than $20.00 or $30.00. I'm hoping my students will be able to bring in their own / their siblings toys, but needed to have one "just in case". I got a guy action figure while I was there. Should be an interesting / fun lesson.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not being tired! Had a very long nap this afternoon and have not felt so good in a long time.

Wordle :)

I spotted this cool toy on Wontar's Ramblings and had a play. The result it below. The "wordle" is a summary of my blog for the first half of August and makes a nice change from my usual offering. The fact that the word "exciting" appears above "Maths" was just perfect.

Wordle

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to retrieve the source file of a really old image (from two years ago) and then edit said image it so that it can be reused this year.

Home Run

The main reason that I like baseball is that it is that, compared to cricket, its easy to understand. That and it reminds of that inspired Abbott and Costello routine.

Home Run

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally being able to buy our favourite flavour ice cream again. The shops have been sold out for weeks but now it appears to be back on the shelves (yummy).

Sun and Surfer

Complete with fractal waves.

Sun and Surfer

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A very long time ago, the New Zealand Association of Maths Teacher's had a logo competition. The basic idea is that they wanted a new logo and asked teachers / students to design it. Theoretically, the winning logo would win a prize. To cut a long story story, I entered and won. I heard the news from my HOD who got the magazine, recognised my work and told me (and the rest of the school) about it. Being congratulated by my colleagues at various points in the day was really fun. It would have been nice to have been notified about the outcome by the people running the competition. It would also have been nice to receive the prize. I'm not complaining. Got home and told my mom that I'd rather get an Enhanced license download from Shutterstock as at least that money was real. Checked my downloads and there it was! An enhanced download. Very exciting. I'm pretty sure that I can hear G-d laughing at me right about now. Never mind. I'm laughing with Him.

Purple Flotation

For some reason, this one reminds me of a flotation device. Go figure.

Purple Flotation

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Realising that the Carbon dioxide experiment that I wanted to show my students is available on youtube. We'll try and to it "for real" but if we don't have the gear / time, its good to know that there's an easy to access video out there.

Heavenly Blues

I really love it when this stuff just "works". This image did take a while to render though.

Heavenly Blues

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That "fractal guy" is back. "Fractal" guy is my nick name for the person who keeps on buying large amounts of my fractals over at SS. This is particularly obvious when it happens on weekends. I'm hoping "fractal guy" keeps on buying my work (and that he tells all his friends about it too).

Tisha B'Av 5768

The text at the back of the image is a translation of the book of Lamentations. This book is traditionally read in shul on Tisha B'Av.

Tisha B'Av 5768

The huge version (for printing purposes) is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Ice-cream. If my dad and I had not decided to enjoy some soft serve on the way home from our walk, we'd have missed the 20c coin that was lying in the food court just waiting to be picked up :)

Coffee Swirl

Surfing + Coffee Addiction = Coffee Swirl

Just to be clear, I don't drink *that* much coffee and the only thing that I surf is the 'net.

Coffee Swirl

The large version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Managing to get a fair bit of planning done in my non-contact time. It seems that everything takes three times as long as it should and finding the time to plan properly can be a challenge.

Surfer's Paradise

Its been a while since my last Apo excursion. This one turned out quite well.

Surfer's Pardise

Today's Gratitude Item: Muscle memory. That means being too tired to think does not mean being too tired to dance :)

Dedicated to all of those violinists out there.

Sweet Violin

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the traffic was not as bad coming home as feared. Had faculty meetings after school which usually means a very long commute, thankfully that was not the case today.

Piano Man

Calling him "keyboard guy" just didn't sound the same. Its called "artistic license".

Piano Man

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Old exam solutions being online. Hopefully I'll be able to find a clear answer to my current problem.

Playing the Pinks

Not quite the same as playing the "blues" but far prettier in my opinion.

Playing the "pinks"

The wallpaper version is at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The batteries on my graphing calculator needed to be recharged. In my world if my calculator is not working, it means that a nap is in order :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Last month was my best month ever on Shutterstock and the kiwi dollar has finally dropped in value compared with the US so now the exchange rate works in my favour :)
