Yom HaShoah 5770

Presenting another in a series which has run for a while. As before, the names are taken from the Yad Vashem Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names. The names in this image are a small fraction of those who perished in Auschwitz in 1941.

Note that the names on the Yellow Badge are not "recycled" from previous images - even though the shape is the same.

Brief Moment

The extremely large version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A remarkably productive day. All things electronic were cooperating and some pleasing images "happened".

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your art, particularly the pieces on the Israeli and Holocaust themes, and Dulce et Decorum Est. They are thought provoking expressions. (I had a laugh over the Goshen Gazettes.)

I stumbled onto your blog accidentally, but once I was there I scrolled down a whole lot, reading a lot of your Today's Gratitude Items. Reading down your list of 'gratitudes' made me realize that just as there are many difficulties and irritations that can shade our lives, so the small blessings can lighten our days; the trick is to notice them. The same day can be a glass half empty or a glass half full. Writing down something you are thankful for every day keeps you focused on the positives. Reading down the whole list, as I just did, I found the the cumulative effect to be surprisingly uplifting -- the sum of the positives being more than the parts.

Thanks for the inspiration!
