Sukkot 5773

I've recycled the "Booth Brothers" from last year and the concept from back in 2007. The "Soul Agency" gag is new though.

Sukkot 5773

The huge version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Big Bang reruns. I needed a bit of cheering up today and they did the trick.

Downhill

Had fun with this one.

Downhill

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The first real day of summer. Weather was much hotter than we are used to and daylight saving beings in a few hours which is great as it means being able to walk outside in the evenings rather than having to do the treadmill thing.

Big Fat String Spiral

Or BFSS for short :)

Big Fat String Spiral

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That I don't live in the US where, apparently they colour their cheese so that it is orange. Was listening to an item on the radio where they talked about the strange coloured US cheese and was suddenly really grateful to be in good old New Zealand where the cheese tastes amazing and has no added colour. Our cheddar is a lovely pale yellow and it tastes like heaven. Sadly it's got a 36% fat content which makes it a very occasional treat. An explanation of why some cheese is orange can be seen at the preceding link.

The Wall

Looks kind of imposing - at least to me.

The Wall

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Vicks Cough Drops. They taste truly revolting but do stop bouts of coughing. Needed them today because having a coughing fit whilst supervising an exam is not a good look - Let's just say that said lollies saved the day!

Hot Horseshoes

If you look closely, you'll see that the 'flower' is made up of golden horse shoes. I wonder if that makes this wallpaper lucky.

Hot Horseshoes

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A very easy fast :) My cold is definitely on the way out and given that eating aggravates the cough, not consuming anything today did me the world of good. Strange but true.

Yom Kippur 5773

It turns out that if you remove the "T" and the "A" from "stainless", you get "sinless". The idea for this one came to me in the shower! Here's wising everyone an easy fast.

Yom Kippur 5773

The massive version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having a spare box of tissues in my car! The only thing worse than having a running nose is having a running nose and no tissues.

Designer DNA

A bit too "grunge" for my taste but certainly original.

Designer DNA

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Just making it through the day! I had hoped to avoid the sickness (cold / flu) that has been sweeping through school. Sadly I've been caught in it's grasp and feel miserable. At least I don't need to talk / teach until Friday due to exams.

Bloom Squared

I love it when playing with old params and new variations "works".

Bloom Squared

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding a page which lets me report DMCA violations to hostgator. They are one of the larger hosting companies in the US but on their website, they insist that they will only accept DMCA notices by snail mail / fax. I'm hoping that the form is a change of heart on their part.

Suffice it to say, seeing my work copied on other sites / blogs without acknowledgement / attribution is getting old and filing DMCA notices is deeply satisfying. Services like blogger, youtube, wordpress and facebook all have online DMCA forms which makes the process really easy. Others like photobucket and GoDaddy have easy to find dedicated email addresses and instructions on how to file which is OK too.

The irony is, if people ask, I'm usually more than happy to share - provided that the work is attributed. Nothing makes my blood boil quite as much as seeing my work on another site with a copyright notice underneath it!

String Finity

This one has been post processed. A lot. The original looked a lot more like an infinity symbol but duplicating it, mirroring it and then rotating the entire thing by 45 degrees gave a nicer composition.

String Finity

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not needing to stress about planning classes for next week. There are some good things about exam season. So far have really enjoyed the weekend and am looking forward to getting a fair bit of work done at school next week.

Hooked on String

Simple but nice. Was super easy to make.

Hooked on String

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having a bit of a change. Not teaching classes today was nice. Only downside is that I did not get nearly as much "other stuff" done as initially hoped. Exam supervision was slightly less boring than feared.

Event Horizon 2.0

Tried a new final transform variation and this is what happened. Looked better on a white background.

Event Horizon 2.0

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That one of my colleagues wanted to switch exam supervision slots. Long story short, it means I don't have to stay late one day next week. The downside is doing 3 hours in a row on Tuesday. At least that gets a lot of it out of the way. Suffice it to say, supervising exams is *hopefully* very boring. If it gets "interesting" it is not a good thing.

Diamond Rush

Enjoyed making this one. It was a bit plain until I added the bits of "braid" on the side.

Diamond Rush

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being provided with morning tea today. It was an unexpected surprise and a nice way to get back 'into it' after a delightful four day weekend.

Ziggy 2.0

This one really needs some clip-art on the right hand side but I have not had time / energy to create any new stuff so it will have to live without it.

Ziggy 2.0

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: A peaceful (and delicious) start to 5773. Am feeling very rested and am looking forward to going back to school tomorrow.

Shana Tova 5773

Here's wishing everyone out there a sweet, peaceful New Year :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Taking time off for the Jewish holidays! My blog gets a brief vacation too.

Spiky Sphere

Reminds me of a curled up hedgehog.

Spiky Sphere

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Popcorn, rain and television - not necessarily in that order :)

Sharp Waves

Does this one remind anyone else of a static filled television??

Sharp Waves

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding a dollar at school in the car park. It made for an excellent start to the day. The fact that our scheduled morning meeting was cancelled was an added bonus.

Olympic Fizz

There are a lot of bubbles in this one! It's worth looking at the "original" size in this case.

Olympic Fizz

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally getting Windows 7 on my school computer. It makes opening programs a lot quicker. The downside was losing all of my installed programs like Mozilla, Notepad++ and so on. Happily I have the install files backed up so it was relatively quick to get back to 'normal' although some stuff is still missing. One could say that it is a work in progress.

Poison Puck

Whilst this one looks pretty, its probably quite painful to make contact with it.

Poison Puck

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having plenty of space to dance! For the last two and a half months, the hall we use has basically been a bit of a building site. The renovations are finally complete and the place looks amazing. The space seems larger than it did before and it was great to be able to dance without having to sweep up loads of dust first.

Dis-jointed

The title really says it all.

Dis-jointed

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally being able to get email on my iPad again. As part of the school trial, we had to remove our email from our iPads so that the kids could use them. Now we have a class set for students to use so things are back to 'normal' which is great.

Framed Spiral

An experiment of sorts.

Framed Spiral

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That almost everyone in my Information Technology got the hang of converting between decimal and binary numbers. Given that it was their first time this is a great result. The binary flipper helped a lot. So did the game that they got to play - the boys were especially competitive and seemed determined to get beyond round 20 which is not as easy as one might think.

Plant Life

Not too sure about this one...

Plant Life

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the headache that has been bothering me for most of the day has finally eased up. I was worried that I'd managed to catch "something" and am hoping that this is not the case.

Oblivious

Ever noticed how commuters / people "out there" are so engrossed in their electronic devices that they miss some of the amazing things happening around them? Sometimes it can be a good thing to leave the electronics off and just enjoy the environment. You never know what you'll see!

Oblivious

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting my Binary Flipper to work. I initially tried to create it using flash with no success (and a lot of wasted time). Eventually I made the thing using html5. Let's just say I've been struggling with this for over a week. Have learned a lot and am relieved that it finally works.

Summer Spokes

Reminded me of the spokes of a really fancy wheel.

Summer Spokes

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Booklet Creator. This is a great little piece of software which will take a regular .pdf document and change it into a booklet. Some software (and printers) will do this for you but our set up at school is "tricky" and this software is necessary. The unpaid version lets one create booklets up to 16 pages long which is great because that is the length of the booklet that I needed to print today. Happily the booklets that my students need to create for their assessment should also be 16 pages (maximum) so they can use the free version too.

Ribbon Orb

This one turned out really well. Was extremely pleased with the colours and detail.

Ribbon Orb

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That it is possible to get paper 'delivered'. My classroom is very far away from the printery (the source of paper for the photocopier). Said copier was completely out of paper and needed 3 reams to be refilled (it's a large beast). I'm super grateful that I did not need to carry the paper all that way. Having it delivered meant not getting sore arms and saving time. Best of all, it was delivered by one of the students so I did not even have to tip :)

Working Man

Why is it that workman are often spotted as the sun is rising? At least this guy was not holding up traffic / contributing to the early morning madness that is Auckland city.

Working Man

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Walking outside! On a week day. Before the end of daylight saving. This was a rare pleasure. Finding two 10c coins on the journey (in different places) was simply icing on the cake.

Clowning Around

Clip-art for this one took forever to create. It worked surprisingly well on the background though.

Clowing Around

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That one of my colleagues shared some really good information about setting up quizzes in Moodle (our school's CMS). I'd been struggling to get my 'stuff' to co-operate but after he showed me what to do, it's actually quite straight forward.

Roof Wave

The wave pattern on this one reminded me of a corrugated iron roof.

Roof Wave

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Discovering Stencyl. It's a brilliant piece of game making software which let's one create games and publish them as .swf files. One can also upgrade and make the games available via the Apple store. Happily, the free version has so far suited my needs.

Stretched Canvas

Had fun with this one :)

Stretched Canvas

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Taking the day off (mostly)! Have not done a lot of what I was supposed to do but having a break from it all was necessary.

Pink Paper

The background for this one would look cool as a scrapbook background - at least in my opinion.

Pink Paper

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to log in to Scribd using my FB account. It turns out that scribd gives me a very easy way to upload .pdf files and then get a sharing link. I know there are other services that do this but in this case, I needed something quick and easy - and scribd fit the bill.
