Shiny Disc

A very old style - revisited.

Today's Gratitude Item: This Tutorial. It looks like a fun / easy way to create some interesting images and I can't wait to give it a try.

Spiked Orange

This one is "weird" - but is it "wonderful"? Methinks not.

Today's Gratitude Item: Shabbat. It is easy to take this weekly blessing as a right and not appreciate it for the G-d given gift that it is.

Square Eyes

Turned out better than expected.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my senior students have produced some really good looking web pages. They submitted them yesterday and marking their work is relatively quick (compared with some of the other assignments they've done) and quite enjoyable.

Fractured Flow

Had fun with this one although staring at it for too long may induce motion sickness - don't say you weren't warned.

Today's Gratitude Item: That tomorrow is Friday. I desperately need a weekend - have had meetings every night this week and am exhausted...

Infinite Ribbon

For some reason this one makes me happy.

Today's Gratitude Item: That I don't teach juniors! We had parent / teacher evening for our senior students tonight. Those unfortunate to teach both juniors and seniors get to repeat the parent / teacher experience in a fortnight. Suffice it to say that whilst things went well, it was a cold, late night and I'm really glad that I don't need to do it again in two weeks time.

Grace Fall

Presenting a golden 'waterfall' made of diamonds.

Today's Gratitude Item: Helpful students - it's nice when kids go beyond the call of duty with enthusiasm. Chocolate bribes / training might have something to do with it :)

Rough Diamonds

This one required very little post processing - which is the exception, rather than the rule these days.

Today's Gratitude Item: An old pair of leather shoes that has been given a new lease on life. You could say that have healed and reheeled :)

Xmas Closeup

This is a close up of a tree - decorated the right way! Needless to say, this one was made quite some time ago.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having time to get at least some work done. It's a pity that Visual Basic was being uncooperative and I did not manage to finish. Hopefully some of the programming geniuses in my Computing class will be able to solve the problem of clearing "Pubic" variables on their own... (at least it's not mandatory for this to work for the upcoming assessment).

Wood Flower

As in a delicate flower carved our of fractal wood.

Today's Gratitude Item: That a mundane task that I was dreading did not take up nearly as much time as feared.

Friday, June 21, 2013

Rose Wood

A variation on the "wood flower" theme.

Today's Gratitude Item: The interesting articles that sometimes come across my *virtual* desk. The one at the preceding link looks at "Calligrams" created by Dylan Roscover. When I grow up, I want to be like him!

Pretty Paper

Took a while to get this one to 'work'. It may be a bit 'intense' for some.

Today's Gratitude Item: Colleagues from other schools who are willing to share time, resources and expertise. It's about the only thing that makes being the only one teaching Digital Technologies 'on site' possible.

Swirl Interrupted

This one has a modern twist.

Today's Gratitude Item: For the second week in a row, I had a large group of dancers turn up to class. It was a good mix of experienced and 'not so experienced' dancers and everyone seemed to be having a really good time. Freshly made bagels with jam / cream cheese at the end made a great end to the session.

Shiny Cross

This is what a fractal cross-road looks like.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being recognised by an ex-student who is doing really well as an auto-mechanic. The only problem is that I have no idea who this young man is! The fact that our entire conversation was in Sign Language tells me I taught him more than 5 years ago (and that my Sign Language is really rusty!)

Rushed River

Created in a rush!

Today's Gratitude Item: Chocolates from my boss - it's nice to be appreciated. Said chocolates were for creating certificates which can be used by the department to celebrate student achievement and they took quite a while to create.

Diamond Daze Curved

Similar to previous works - but still unique.

Today's Gratitude Item: Making progress on my php / sql experiments. It's exciting when things go right and it is not as hard as initially feared.

Turbulent Wire

This one was originally blue but the reversed colours looked better - so it became a metallic.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having illustrations for *almost* any occasion. Sometimes judicious recycling of artwork can be a good thing.

Friday, June 14, 2013

Star Trap

As in a gold star trapped in a green belt.

Today's Gratitude Item: That one of my 'old' dancers who suffered from a 'mini' stroke about 7 weeks ago is finally back at is home. It makes visiting a lot easier and I'm sure he will be happy to be back in comfortable surroundings.

Floral Splash

This is what happens when a flower is dropped into water - at least in my world.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my colleague (who works at a different school) is quick to answer emails and invariably offers useful solutions. Without his help, life would be a lot tougher.

Is this one on the 'up and up'?

Today's Gratitude Item: Seeing at least some of my students make significant progress on our programming topic. It's been 'tough going' at times but those willing to put in the effort / keep up in class are starting to get the hang of it.

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Spindle Shade

Reminded me a of a fractal spider creating a fractal web.

Today's Gratitude Item: My "Assignments and Moodle" presentation to colleagues was well received. It's good when that happens.

Feathered Frenzy

Somehow I'd hoped for "more"with this one.

Today's Gratitude Item: Yummy salmon dip and very thin rice 'wafers' - the ultimate afternoon snack (kindly 'donated' by my car pool buddy).

Sunday, June 09, 2013

Bedroom Vortex

Background reminded me of old fashioned wallpaper. At least this vortex is quite pretty.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being in the right place at the right time. Had I not been teaching a dance elective today, my group's precious stereo / speakers would have been lost in a "clean up". We have permission to store our gear at the local synagogue but I think they had forgotten about this and did not realise what the gear was for / who it belonged to. When I arrived to teach my elective this morning, said gear was in the 'get rid of it' pile. Scary stuff! They were terribly apologetic about the mistake - I'm super grateful that disaster was averted.

Mag Way

Where "mag" stands for magenta.

Today's Gratitude Item: That it is probably going to be raining tomorrow morning - so much so that walking might not be possible (which means precious time to 'sleep in').

Friday, June 07, 2013

Bit of a Stretch

This one is far too busy for my liking. It was worse before I adjusted the colours.

Today's Gratitude Item: Learning that <ctrl><shift><esc> opens up the task manager in Windows. I love my shortcuts :)

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Fab Spiral

Where the "fab" stands for fabric.

Today's Gratitude Item: Simply surviving. Today was extremely busy and sometimes just getting through is sufficient.

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

Bead Pot

Presenting another 'bright' idea.

Today's Gratitude Item: Cancelled meetings (and the gift of 'time').

Tuesday, June 04, 2013

Tiger Flower

If it has orange and black stripes, then a tiger must involved. This one is way too bright for my liking!

Today's Gratitude Item: A "Wet Lunch" - this meant that instead of wasting time on duty in the library, I was able to work in my classroom. One of the best things about teaching seniors is that having them indoors when it is raining is rather good - especially as my 'crowd' are able to keep themselves amused with games / movies and minimum fuss.

Monday, June 03, 2013

Brilliant Bridge

If you look closely at this one, you might be able to spot the bridge.

Today's Gratitude Item: Managing to create *most* of a program / tutorial which I need for school. There is nothing quite so satisfying as getting Visual Basic to do exactly what one wants it to do.

Sunday, June 02, 2013

Wrapped Up

This gift wrap has Santa's approval!

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting loads done today. Hopefully tomorrow will be equally productive.

Saturday, June 01, 2013

Tunnel Disc

This one reminds me of what peacock feathers would look like in a fractal universe.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having time to relax. G-d Bless the queen :)*

*For my overseas readers, it's Queens Birthday weekend which means here in New Zealand, we get Monday off. The fact that the queen's actual birthday was on the 21st April is a minor detail that does not bother us in the slightest
