1000 Eyes

Reminded me of peacock feathers. This is not the first time something like this has happened.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting 'proper' coffee this morning even though our student run cafe was officially closed because of a 'Staff Meeting' (long story).

This one is a variation on a theme - was pleased with the final outcome.

Modern Woman

It's good when 'different' pays a visit.

Modern Woman

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Managing to 'export' my python program (from yesterday) into an .exe file which anyone can use. The actual file / folder package is quite large but it 'works' - have had two of my colleagues give the program a go and they found it useful.

Heart Complications

As in it's a heart - only a bit complicated.

Heart Complications

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Writing my first ever Python program which is actually useful. I now have an easy way to convert .csv files into Moodle friendly .xml files. This is going to save me (and my 'early adopter' colleagues) loads of time.

UN Condemnation

This statement is five days old - wish I'd posted it then, but it's not too late. Suffice it to say, all the anti-Israel rhetoric I'm hearing is getting 'old'.

Today's Gratitude Item: *Finally* locating the image above. It was buried under a bunch of other relevant content. Was worth searching for though.

We Build, They Destroy

Today there were protests in Auckland against Israel's ground offensive in Gaza. The situation there is a tragedy. It is a great pity that the protesters appear to be missing the point - the ground invasion is a direct result of Hamas firing rockets into Israel.

Are these people unaware of the 'terror tunnels' that have been built Hamas?
Do they not realise that Hamas use homes, schools mosques and hospitals to store rockets, rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles?
Are they oblivious to the fact that Hamas tell the civilians in Gaza not to abandon their homes when Israelis warn them that they are planning an attack?

I'm wondering why the protesters, who are so vocal in their opposition to Israel are silent when it comes to the actions of Hamas? Where were these protesters during the Syrian crisis? How is it that they only come out when Israel is under attack?

Here is some food for thought...

Today's Gratitude Item: Reading first hand about what is going on in Israel. My uncle sent through an enlightening / scary email. Happily the family are all OK - despite the rocket attacks.

Xmas Wire Frame

When designing, we usually start with a wire-frame. Only not this kind of wire frame. It worked well with the 'wire' Christmas tree. My timing in posting the image is a bit 'off' but such is life.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting through a long week at school. Am really happy that the weekend is finally here.

Manual Waves

As in these had to tiled the hard way.

Manual Waves

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That it rained at lunch time. This made my 'field' duty incredibly simple as kids don't bother to go out on the field when it's raining.

Ocean Bars

A holiday experiment - am not overly pleased with this one.

Ocean Bars

Today's Gratitude Item: That coffee does not keep me awake :) Which means being able to indulge in liquid heaven shortly before going to sleep.

Sky / Land Reflections

Finally! A fractal that worked out well.

Sky / Land Reflections

Today's Gratitude Item: Being warm on a freezing day - it's a 'big' small thing. Winter is here with a vengeance and having the means to keep warm is certainly a reason to be grateful.

Frock Fabric

This one is far too pink for my taste - hopefully it will appeal to 'someone' out there.

Frock Fabric

Today's Gratitude Item: That our 'broken' washing machine was coaxed back to life. Being able to get clothes clean with minimal effort is a wonderful thing.

Fashion Check

I wonder what garments made from a checkered fractal fabric would look like...

Fashion Check

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being ready to go back to school tomorrow. The holiday has been far too short but it is only 9 weeks and three days until the next one (not that I'm counting!)

Teal Twist

Sun-Sational

I might have gotten a bit carried away with this one...

Sun-Sational

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Acquiring a lovely new 'work top'. Finding clothes that fit well is notoriously hard as most 'stuff' is made for taller people and all to often the 'waist' of a garment ends up on my hips - most definitely not a good look. Happily this is not an issue with the new top.

Infinite Surf

Complete with a driftwood-type background.

Infinite Surf

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Managing to create a basic 'hangman' game in python (from scratch). Admittedly making a text-based version of hangman in Python is not that hard if you now what you are doing but when one is just learning it's a significant step forward.

33 Knot Wind

Wouldn't want to be out sailing in that. Inspired by a night-time storm complete with lightning and thunder.

33 Knot Wind

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my dashboard light has finally been fixed. It has not been working for a very long time but when my car went in scheduled maintenance last week - the mechanic replaced the light. Driving to dance with the dashboard all lit up was slightly unnerving but in a good way.

Today's Gratitude Item: Wonderful sunshine! Last week we had wind storms / rain. Yesterday, super impressive fog. Today, at last - sunshine (all day). It was very exciting.

Today's Gratitude Item: That our weather is set to improve. Am desperately hoping for some sunshine tomorrow after a long period of wind, rain and grey skies.

If you don't see the hearts, try squinting and tilting your head.

Today's Gratitude Item: Egg and potato frittata- a perfect 'holiday Friday' lunch.

Feather Flower

Not too sure about this one...

Feather Flower

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having a great holiday despite almost a week of stormy weather. Happily, staying indoors (and on my computer) has not been a problem. We've been lucky with the power situation - many others have had their supply interupted due to storm related damage.

Wearable Art

I really wish one could get fabric that looked like this. It would make a truly magnificent skirt.

Wearable Art

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Making good progress on the programming course that I'm doing. So far am enjoying the experience - having time in the holidays to get a significant portion of the work done is very helpful.

Spring Rain

Made on the first day of spring 2013. Posted mid-winter 2014. Funnily enough, it was windy / raining for most of the day. Sadly, today's colours were more grey than blue.

Spring Rain

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally figuring out how to use some of the more basic features the date.time module in python. As is so often the case, it's simple when you know how.

Funky Friday

Made in the car on the way home from work one Friday afternoon (my car pool buddy was driving)!

Funky Friday

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Inspiration (which is sometimes found in the strangest of places)! Was frustrated by a dearth of ideas for my next "Rosh HaShana" graphic. Happily inspiration came in the form of a fun poster that was hanging in our local dry cleaners.

Magenta in Motion

Another 'old' idea - revisited.

Magenta in Motion

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Endless Waves

Or should it be "Ocean Mosaic"?

Endless Waves

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The 'new' course that I proposed at school has been accepted. This means that provided enough students choose to take it, we will now offer a level 1 'Digital Technology' (aka Computer Science) course next year. That's the good news. The bad news is that creating the course means a mountain of extra work.

Chain Button

The main image reminded me of an ornate button. Not sure if I like this image or not.

Chain Button

Today's Gratitude Item: A much better turn out at dance class - despite the cold wet weather.

Mosaic Magic

Simple but hopefully effective.

Mosaic Magic

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: The fact that in my subject, practically everything is on-line which means sending home work for kids who have missed time in class/ need to catch up is incredibly simple. I knew there was a reason I spent so much time making eBooks / 'remote control' resources.
