Fragile Gold

Reminded me of the underside of flower petals. Liked the fragility of this one.

Today's Gratitude Item: A fun day. It started when I found $1.00 on the ground between my car and my classroom this morning and got even better when I checked my Shutterstock earnings. Let's just say I did not know that 'single sale' licenses went that high!

Coral Crescent

An old style revisited - again. I just could not help myself. In retrospect this might not have been particularly wise...

Coral Crescent

Today's Gratitude Item: That 'my' posters are finally ready. The posters in question are a series which say 'Comment Your Code' and show students how to comment their code in a range of languages. The cool thing about these posters is that whilst I designed them, the University of Canterbury have agreed to print and distribute them to Computer Science teachers around the country. Naturally they now have Canterbury University's branding on them which is not a problem. Said posters will be sent to me in the near future - I can't wait to see how they turned out and to put them up in my classroom. This will make life a lot easier as when kids don't comment their code, I'll be able to simply point to the posters!

Today's Gratitude Item: That ANZAC day has been 'Mondayised' (ie: the holiday was on Saturday so we get Monday off).

Green Ocan

When this one was first made, I was particularly pleased with it but now I'm not so sure...

Green Ocan

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: That even though today was a public holiday, my favourite sushi shop was open. Saturday mornings would not be quite the same without sushi for breakfast.

Pixelated Rain

Yom Ha'atzmaut

Funnily enough, finding the words to describe Israel was really easy. It's just that kind of place.

Yom Ha'atzmaut

The huge version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a large amount of 'must do' stuff done. Am still wading through mountains of work but it feels good to get some of it out of the way.

Yom Hazikaron 5775

The image really says it all.

Yom Hazikaron 5775

Today's Gratitude Item: A free 'flu shot. Whilst my arm is a bit sore, getting the 'jab' should help keep the worst potential winter ailments away.

Winter Hope

Sometimes feeling hopeful can inspire images. This was one of those times.

Winter Hope

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting to do some much needed subject specific Professional Development. Said PD is happening in the near future and I'm looking most forward to it as it should save me a significant amount of work and translate into better grades for my students.

Misplaced Confidence

Was confident that this one would be easy to colour - let's just say things took much longer than expected.

Misplaced Confidence

Today's Gratitude Item: Having had a really great holiday. I'm not thrilled about going back to school tomorrow but am at least somewhat ready for the new term.

Straight and Narrow

Today's Gratitude Item: Three coins, one spot. Found a total of 90c on my afternoon walk. Felt a bit bad for whoever lost it but finding small change never gets old.

If you look closely, you'll notice these tiles are not quite straight.

Today's Gratitude Item: Simply glorious walking weather. After the recent cold snap having a bit more 'summer' has been something to treasure.

5775 Yom HaShoah

This one contains over 1800 names of those who perished in the Holocaust. The names are from the Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names. The names are clearly visible in the 'original' version of the image.

The man and books are from this photograph.

5775 Yom HaShoah

The absolutely massive version (for printing) is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Chance meetings. On my walk this morning I ended up meeting (and chatting with) a Computer Science lecturer form Auckland University. We were headed to the same place and a useful contact was made completely by chance.

Gentle Distortion

Today's Gratitude Item: Warm clothing! Today was the first cold day this year and it took a bit of getting used to.

Unique

Reminds me of finger prints - hence the title.

Unique

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item:Avoiding a drenching. The short version is that when I started my morning walk it was not raining but just as I reached shelter, the heavens opened. The rain was both intense and sudden, so much so that the entire experience was extremely surreal. Being warm, safe and dry felt very good.

Heart Art

In retrospect, this one is really pink.

Heart Art

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having an awesome time at dance camp. Suffice it to say, Oren Ashkenazi is now one of my favourite choreographers. Not only are his dances really beautiful but he is a fantastic teacher. I almost cried when camp was over (sadly all good things come to an end). Happily we have a selection of lovely new dances to enjoy.

Today's Gratitude Item: No traffic issues! Have had two 'Wednesdays' in recent times where getting to dance class was rather stressful due to accidents on the Motorway. Happily this was not a problem today.

Sometimes 'busy' is good.

Salmon Star

Today's Gratitude Item: Gorgeous autumn weather. It's great to be able to enjoy long walks outside without getting too hot or too cold.

Light Graffiti

A bit different to my usual offering but I liked it.

Light Graffiti

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting an extra hour's sleep. The end of daylight saving is a good thing - especially as it means not getting up in the dark for the next little while. I'm already missing summer but shorter days and cooler temperatures have some advantages.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being officially on holiday! The two week 'break' is not all that long and I have loads of work to get through in that time but not having to get up incredibly early and teach kids will be a most pleasant change.

Unexpected

The title really says it all.

Unexpected

The wallpaper version is available at the preceding link.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not getting 'pranked' by my students today. I suspect everyone is simply too tired to think up amusing practical jokes making 'April Fools' this year a non-event.
