Dawn Nautilus

This one has plenty of space for icons! I've realised that many people have a large number of icons on their desktop and am hoping that this piece will appeal to them.

Today's Gratitude Item: Dance camp! It starts tomorrow and lasts until Monday. So I'm looking forward to an amazing weekend full of dance. If things are a bit quiet over here, well at least you know why.

Sukkot 5768

Last year, I was surprised by the response to my graphic. So this year is a continuation of that theme. If you don't know much about this rather cool holiday, See this page (from

Today's Gratitude Item: Free dinner! I know that there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I get to go to a free dinner tonight (especially for Sukkot). Am hoping it will be fun.

Bacchus Arch

Bacchus was the Greek god of wine. The colours in this fractal reminded me of this, hence the name.

Today's Gratitude Item: That the plain white jumper I made fits! All I need to do now is sew on some decoration and it will be ready to wear.

Boxed In

This graphic is a tribute to Marcel Marceau. He was an inspirational man, and an inspirational mime!

Today's Gratitude Item: Popcorn & television. Now all I need to do is convince the world that popcorn is a vegetable! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Psychedelic Ribbon

Every so often, bright colours can "work". This desktop wallpaper is certain to liven things up a little.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having time to create stuff on my computer! Also, having people who give helpful feedback about my work. I really hate criticism but am slowly learning to listen to what people say and to incorporate their (often insightful) suggestions into my work.

Tiger Paper

Named because its striped and orange.

Today's Gratitude Item: Making it through the fast with minimum fuss. And getting to eat dinner :) Food always tastes better when one is hungry.

Yom Kippur 5768

Yom Kippur is probably most people's least favourite holiday! That's a pity in a way because its a really great opportunity to get the New *Jewish* year off to a clean start.

You can access the large version of this graphic by clicking on the image above. Images that are related to Jewish Holidays live at the preceding link where you can browse by holiday and download the image in high resolution (for printing etc).

Today's Gratitude Item: The students I had today were relatively good. The last day of school is always a challenging time to be a reliever, as the students are more unsettled than usual. All things considered, today went surprisingly well.

Roses are Red?

Or not. This one looked better in the "blue" version.

Today's Gratitude Item: That holidays are coming soon! Tomorrow is the last day of term. Then, two glorious weeks of "guilt free" vacation time.

Floral Cubist

This one is dedicated to all of those who don't mind thinking "inside the square".

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally making it to $500.00 on Shutterstock! This means that instead of getting 25c per download, its gone up to 30c, and those small amounts add up quite nicely. I've been on the site for just over a year, so whilst I can't afford to quit my day job, at least I get paid a bit to indulge my hobby.

Bright Star Wallpaper

This is where "wire and tube" style apo meets desktop. At the least, it will brighten up your day.

Today's Gratitude Item: The very kind words from DrMom. She not only used my art, but she took the time to let me know about it. Its great to be appreciated. Thanks "Mom" :)

Pink Ripples

Well not exactly pink, there's more of a mauve / maroon thing happening in the background. Its amazing what apo can sometimes do.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being almost better. Had a relapse of the 'flu and was not quite healthy for about a week! Finally my nose has stopped running which is a relief. I really hate being sick.

Pure Pink

This one gets filed in the "I hate it, but someone out there is bound to like it" box. The problem of course is the colour. Needless to say, this gradient "worked", the others didn't (deep sigh).

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting my hair cut fast and $2.00 cheaper than usual. Discovering a new hair place that is easier to get to and cheaper than the old place has to be a good thing.

Mystic Seashore

Remember those sea urchin shells from way back?? This image reminds me of those same creatures, even though the fractal is totally different from my previous work.

Today's Gratitude Item: Traditional Jewish food. Its not Rosh HaShana in my household unless herring and sweet round Challot are being consumed. Both were amazing this year!

Rosh HaShana 5768

I've realised that I won't have time to blog before the holiday "comes in" tomorrow, so here's my official 5768 Rosh HaShana post.

You can access the large version of this graphic by clicking on the image above. Images that are related to Jewish Holidays live at the preceding link where you can browse by holiday and download the image in high resolution (for printing etc).

General Gratitude Item: Rosh HaShana! Its a time to reflect on the past and plan for the coming year. Its also a good time to enjoy those things that money can't buy.

Fading Idea

For those who prefer warm colours and geometric elements.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not getting caught in the freezing rain which fell at odd times today. Just got lucky with breaks and bell times - which is always a good thing.

Blue Perspective

Another experiment. This one might be a bit "modern" for my taste. If you stare at it for a while it grows on you.

Today's Gratitude Item: The fact that magazine paper makes a great substitute for origami paper! They do say that necessity is the mother of invention.

Dawn Weaving

This one was a nice surprise! Took a bit of playing to get the colouring right, but the perseverance paid off.

Today's Gratitude Item: Miniature pegs and "cold melt" glue. Today at the library we had a craft session and the kids made Rosh HaShanah cards. I supplied the origami shirts and the kids folded either skirts or pants to go with them. We then made cards, and thanks to our super organised library manager, we had miniature pegs and chord so the cards were 3D and very cool. We also had a bunch of other really nifty stuff to stick on the cards including stickers and funky plastic heart, rhinestone, shiny stuff. We're not sure who had more fun, me or the kids.

Melting Candle Wallpaper

I used Apophysis to get the background and wax part of the candle. The flame was rendered in Blender and then it was all put together in Paintshop Pro.

Today's Gratitude Item: A perfect day! What more could one ask for? It was different, relaxing and fun.

Marine Perfection

Was especially pleased with how the gradient on this one turned out. Perhaps it should be called "Rigid Flow"

Today's Gratitude Item: Being stress free :) I've had a really lovely week and am ready for a great weekend!

Singing Guy

This one was inspired by the sad news about Luciano Pavarotti. Whilst he has passed on, his music remains. He was so much more than just a "Singing Guy".

Today's Gratitude Item: Having the time to make the above "Golden Guy" graphic. Its been too long since the last one.

Freedom Calling

Designed for work computers - need I say more.

Today's Gratitude Item: Four great years of dancing. Tonight was my one dance tutor's last time with us before she goes over to Australia. It was a good time to reflect and be grateful for the time we had with her and all the dances we learned. Of course we will all miss her terribly. She is an incredible human being. Happily, our other dance tutor remains in New Zealand so we won't have to "go without".

Odd Perspective

A flower / butterfly combination that's a bit unusual. It makes interesting wallpaper.

Today's Gratitude Item: Taking an afternoon nap instead of an afternoon stroll. Its a long story with a happy ending :)

Shell Texture

Made in Apo (from scratch). The "icon space" in this one is a little unusual, but it works well with the design. This one was surprisingly simple to create.

Today's Gratitude Item: A very handy "yellow sheet" that explained how to use graphical calculators to find "inverse normals". Needless to say, teaching this topic without the calculator and the handy little sheet would have been a lot tougher!

Psychedelic Murmer

The colours are psychedelic, but not "loud". Dedicated to all those who remember the '60's with fondness.

Today's Gratitude Item: Catching up with a "dance" friend that I had not seen for a while.

Pale Diamond

Turns out that sometimes Tierazon can make some rather pretty flames. It does two things well, subtle and psychedelic (stay tuned for the psychedelic stuff)!

Today's Gratitude Item: My artwork finally made it onto the cover of "Kesher - An official publication of the Auckland Hebrew Congregation". Remember this graphic from last year? They changed the final "7" to an "8" and now I'm famous. Sort of. They did not say where they got the graphic, but that's OK with me. Really. My "Jewish Graphics" are all copyright free and I don't mind if they don't have my name on them, I just get a kick out of it when they get used.
