Piano Piece

Or should that be "Piano Peace"??

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting through my busiest day yet. The trick is not to stop moving! Happily the weather cooperated and after a stormy *literally* week, it was dry when I needed it to be.

Gold Runner

Dedicated to all those marathon runners out there.

Today's Gratitude Item: My students appear to be coping reasonably well with the basic calculus we are doing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will "get" this topic.

Sounds Electric

If we saw music, would the sound of an electric guitar look like this?

Today's Gratitude Item: A small mirror above where I dry my hair. Now the I can actually see whats going on, I'm looking forward to more "good hair" days. Of course said hair needs to be cut first :)

Net Eclipse

He's singing about the Dark side of the sun :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally figuring out how to top up my mom's cellphone online. The website concerned was extremely difficult to figure out, and the error messages were not at all clear. Then again, that is what I have come to expect from big companies. They should spend less time on their marketing and more time on making their website easy to use.

Dawn Singer

This is called greeting the new day with style.

Today's Gratitude Item: School tomorrow! Its been a wonderful three week holiday but now I'm looking forward to getting back to work and meeting my new classes.

Almost Jewels

I wonder if this guy is running because he stole something?

Today's Gratitude Item: That our roof stayed on in the storm. It was a close thing, and now part of the roof is weighted down with stones from our rock garden. Said roof will be more professionally repaired at some point next week.

Inner Strength

Sometimes, what's on the inside is important. Now is not one of those times.

Today's Gratitude Item: A beautiful day! It was really stunning and was made even more sweet by the knowledge that we have some extreme weather on the way in the coming week.

Wild Horse

Not to be confused with the logo of any financial institution!

Today's Gratitude Item: Managing to get enough planning done to *hopefully* keep the nightmares at bay. Often I'll have nightmares about going back to school (as a teacher / reliever) only to be unable to find the class, or worse, to find them and have no idea what we are supposed to be doing.

Great Escape

I wonder what is chasing this pair?

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally finishing the "summary sheet" for the Chem class I will be teaching next semester. It took forever to create!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Psychelic High Jump

Reason #53 why you should not take drugs!

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to use my Graphing calculator in my Statistics exam. After initially being told that this was not possible, the calculator issue has been reconsidered and we get to use them :) I'm incredibly relieved about this.

Weighty Issue

So, are you strong enough?

Today's Gratitude Item: That two of the three pairs of trousers I bought on the weekend did not require shortening. I'm "vertically challenged" and have finally found a store that sells "petite" length trousers.

Sunday, July 20, 2008

This may fit someone's desktop to a "tee".

Today's Gratitude Item: Having another week of holiday! "Regular" schools go back tomorrow but we have one more week of vacation. This is a good thing as I'm not nearly ready to go back.

Gentle Fantasy

Dedicated to all of you out there who at some stage, asked your parents for a horse for a birthday present.

Today's Gratitude Item: A "best day ever" over at Shutterstock. I got 57 downloads which is a new personal best. Am looking forward to many more of these.

Friday, July 18, 2008

Zion's Flag

The Star of David and stripes in this image are basically modified Sierpinski Triangles that have been duplicated "tiled" to create the design. Dedicated to Ze'ev.

Today's Gratitude Item: ACD ChemSketch 11.0. Its a very nifty program that lets one create both 2D and 3D renders of organic molecules. Given that I'll be teaching Organic Chem next semester, having this software is going to be extremely useful. Did I mention that the academic version is free? Life is good right now.

Showing Off

Presenting another in my "horse" series.

Today's Gratitude Item: Marinated onions. I'd share the recipe but its a family secret :)

Still Horsing Around

The title really says it all.

Today's Gratitude Item: Adequate heating! Today was another one of those really cold days - which was not a problem as I sat upstairs with the heater on and studied. Not being cold all the time is certainly something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Horsing Around

This one was inspired by one of my students who did really well in Equestrian (nationals). There may be more "horse play" to come.

Today's Gratitude Item: Remembering to recharge the batteries for my camera. I need more reference photos :)

Monday, July 14, 2008

Lady's Tennis

Complete with fractal net :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting clarification / an explanation for one of my Statistics questions. Email is a wonderful thing.

Sunday, July 13, 2008

This is a MBF (Mind boggling fractal) creation which bears contemplation.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my mom volunteered to proof read the summary sheets that I'm in the process of creating for my students.

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Shadow Stretch

Made in Apo. After a long break, its like having to relearn the program. I'm trying to get it to produce "new" images, rather than the same old stuff all the time.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting most of my filing done. The job was made easier by using my dad's large hole punch :)

Friday, July 11, 2008

Hole in One

A rather classic spiral made in Apo. Not exactly "different" but not too ugly.

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to access school stuff from home. Whilst I can't access everything, its amazing how much information I can get - which saves me having to physically go in to get stuff. This is a good thing, as technically I'm on holiday (yeah, right).

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Tennis Ace

This one took a surprisingly long time to create. The "spirograph suns" were created using CFDG.

Today's Gratitude Item: Spare gloves for walking. Its amazing what a difference having warm hands can make!

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Golf Girl

Turns out that golf is not only for guys!

Today's Gratitude Item: My car passed its WOF (warrant of fitness). I was confident that there would not be any problems, but its good to have that confidence confirmed.

Practice Makes Perfect

We were always told that "practice made perfect". I'm not sure I agree. In some things both talent and practiced are required. The trick is to find your talent, and then practice!

Today's Gratitude Item: Clear blue skies. Its been about two weeks since we last had a decent sunny day. It was still icy cold but having the sun out made a very nice change.

Monday, July 07, 2008

Fun to play, fun to watch!

Today's Gratitude Item: Teaching even more than I thought next semester. Turns out that the boss wants me to take on two extra periods. This works out well, as it means taking one particular group all the time instead of sharing them with another teacher. Not having to liaise / figure out who is doing what is a good thing.

Sunday, July 06, 2008

The sad thing about being "vertically challenged" is that playing netball can be a huge challenge. Unless you learn to jump :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Being reasonably warm. My fingers have been cold most of the day and finally having them "warmish" is a great feeling.

Saturday, July 05, 2008

Golf Guy

Complete with fractal golf balls. Dedicated to a certain Maths teacher who had his knees "done" just so that he could continue to play.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a new dish washer. The old one was on its last legs and it got replaced today. Which is good because that means I don't have to wash the dishes by hand!

Friday, July 04, 2008

Soccer Leaf

Soccer is a great sport, it can be played just about anywhere.

Today's Gratitude Item: I'm on holiday :) Its been a very long term and I'm really excited to finally be on vacation.

Thursday, July 03, 2008

Cold Doll

This doll looks how I feel - cold. We could both use a blanket.

Today's Gratitude Item: The funding we applied for to help with camp came through. Whilst it was not as much as we asked for, it was a major boost and we are all quite excited about it.

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

Climbing Rocks!

I'm not afraid of falling. Its hitting the ground that really worries me.

Today's Gratitude Item: Breakfast at the library. Not only was there great food, but we got to review (and reserve) a whole lot of brand new books. I got The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok. I've started reading it and am surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. Not sure a non-Jewish audience would appreciate the full depth of the novel though.

Toy Clown

The clown is based on a knitted toy that my mom made. Except this one is a bit more colourful.

Today's Gratitude Item: Pancakes for dinner. With ice-cream. Sometimes being an adult can be fun.
