Fuzzy Circles

The overlap in the ripples made this one worth rendering.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a new dishwasher! It will be weird not having to put up with the 'eccentricities' of the old one.

Upside Down Fire

Sometimes 'bright' can be a good thing.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally getting my 'pop-up' email form to work correctly. It turns out that using Jquery form validation was the way to go as it is incredibly easy / simple (and it works alongside the php that I'm using to process the form). Only problem is, it took several hours of frustration to find the solution.

Soft Ice

Am not really sure what I was thinking when this one got rendered...

Today's Gratitude Item: Something that I thought would be really difficult turned out to be quite easy. Usually it's the other way around.

Heat Weave

As in a 'Heat Wave' where things have been woven together. Given our recent weather, this image is oddly appropriate.

Today's Gratitude Item: Lunch with a colleague - it was both tasty and fun.

Echo String Discs

Had fun with the strip in the middle.

Today's Gratitude Item: That embedding a twitter feed in a website is incredibly easy. The trick was finding the URL (on twitter's website) which let me make the required widget.

Fabric Fantastic

Unusually, this one looks better at smaller sizes.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting quick answers after a frustrating day. It's my own fault - I should have 'reached out' for help rather than banging my head against a *virtual* wall. Needless to say, when I finally asked for assistance, an incredibly helpful response arrived in record time.

Window Elipse

The post processing on this one really made a difference.

Today's Gratitude Item: New T-Shirts. The fact that they were 'heavily reduced / on sale' is an added bonus.

Wave Net

As in a wave made up of netting.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting some useful ideas for creating 'complex' websites from a colleague. 2016 is going to be an 'interesting' year as I've completely changed my level 3 course and am teaching a bunch of 'new' standards - starting off with 'complex web'. It looks like ajax / JSON and possibly JQuery will be involved.

Geometric Gauze

This is one of those times when Apo threw out something that is both cool and different.

Today's Gratitude Item: Not having to go to an upcoming work 'social event' due to a fun mix of distance and timing.

Echo Waves

Some zooming and rotating was required with this one.

Today's Gratitude Item: Completing the 'Bootstrap' eBook for those in my level 2 class who have done web design before. It did not take as as much time as anticipated (although it's been a long day).

Flotation Aid

For emergencies on a fractal ocean.

Today's Gratitude Item: Completing the eBook that I'll be using with my level 2 students who have not created web pages before. Am in the process of putting together a separate eBook for those who took my level 1 course last year. So far it is going better than expected but the clock is ticking!

Biblical Highway

As in a straight path through water.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting faster at putting together eBooks. It still takes a massive amount of time but today progress has been more rapid than usual. Here's hoping it continues...

Curve Ball Mosaic

An experiment that did not quite work out...

Today's Gratitude Item: Fixed headphone covers. The foam on my Logitech headset was starting to wear out. Now I have super-comfortable, home made cloth covers instead (thanks mum).

Pink Link

Similar to previous works but I liked it...

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally finishing creating the videos for my level 2 web design course. I still need to 'package' the material up into an eBook but in an emergency they can work through the videos 'as is'.

Rising Ribbon

Turned out better than expected :)

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting an almost-instant answer to quite an important question. I don't use twitter much but it has been proved useful when contacting large organisations (where tweeting can be quicker and more effective than email).

Funky Underwater Wreck

As in these could be the portholes of an ancient wreck.

Today's Gratitude Item: Having just one more thing to do for my 'Bootstrap' tutorial videos for my level 2 IT class. It has been a long and 'interesting' process and I'm pleased that the end is in sight.

Square Flower

This would make a really cool button. Pity it is not real.

Today's Gratitude Item: Getting a deeper understanding of how Bootstrap works. It's surprisingly complex at times and progress has been the proverbial 'three steps forward, two steps back'.

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Spiral Sophistication

The only thing better than a spiral is a spiral that looks a bit 'machine like'.

Today's Gratitude Item: That my car got its 'Warrant of Fitness' with minimum fuss.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Web Ladder

This is my version of 'stairway to heaven'.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finally realising that my 'minimised' menu was not working because I'd omitted the required java-script links / files. It *only* took about 45 minutes to figure this out. At least my students won't make the same mistake.

Monday, January 11, 2016

Gold Ribbon Forever

It was pretty / shiny so it got rendered.

Today's Gratitude Item: Consolation sushi. Nothing is terribly wrong - let's just say I went to the dentist for a checkup today and need to go back tomorrow...

Sunday, January 10, 2016

Double Lucky

Reminded me of four leaf clovers - hence the title.

Today's Gratitude Item: Completing the videos for my 'First Time Web Developer' eBook. There is still a mountain of work to do but getting the videos done was a significant chunk.

Saturday, January 09, 2016

Brick Braid

Liked the 'geometry' of this one so it got rendered.

Today's Gratitude Item: Potatoes that don't require peeling. Sometimes the skin can taste bitter (depending on the variety) so finding a variety where the skin can be enjoyed is a good thing.

Friday, January 08, 2016

Tossed Triangle

Perhaps this one should have been called 'Ocean Geometry'.

Today's Gratitude Item: A quiet space in which to work. If only there was more time in the day...

Thursday, January 07, 2016

Spin Stretch

In a fractal world, this is how fabrics are created.

Today's Gratitude Item: The 'direct input' option for validating html. Using this feature means that now it is possible for my students to use server side includes and validate their code with minimum fuss.

Fire Disc

Sometimes summer days feel exactly like this - very hot.

Today's Gratitude Item: 'The cone of silence' - this is literally a small bright orange cone that gets placed outside my door when I'm recording a screencast. It pretty much guarantees both peace and quiet :)

Tuesday, January 05, 2016

Purple Paper Weave

Reminds me of a paper decoration - hence the name.

Today's Gratitude Item: A very good day which involved sushi (after a too-long break) and completing puzzle #2.

Monday, January 04, 2016

Hole Disc

The 'negative' space is what makes this one work.

Today's Gratitude Item: A second jigsaw puzzle! Summer holidays = puzzles. That is just the way it is. Once said puzzle is done, I'll probably be ready to do some work / prep for school.

Sunday, January 03, 2016

Funky Bauble

Sometimes plain and simple can be really effective

Today's Gratitude Item: Being able to walk outdoors (twice) after two rain filled 'no exercise' days.

Saturday, January 02, 2016

Spiral Machine

Had fun with this one.

Today's Gratitude Item: Help with a particularly difficult (but pretty) jigsaw puzzle.

Friday, January 01, 2016

Double Discs

This one was interesting enough to be rendered. It's not all that inspiring though.

Today's Gratitude Item: Finding out that 'Snap' works on iPads. It's really similar to scratch but flash is not required. At least now there is a way for kids with iPads to create simple programs if they want. Needless to say, it is a lot easier to use 'Snap' from a desktop - especially if you need custom sprites but at least it mostly works.
